Visa question...

Featured Replies

I've got 4 days left on a single entry tourist visa.  I have extended it for the extra 30 days already so nearly 90 days now.  I would like to stay another 2 months.  I stay in the Rayong area so what are my options?  Do I need to go all the way to Vientiane for another single entry or can I go out and visit Ankor Wat in Cambodia then come back in on a 30 day on arrival and extend that at Rayong immigration for the final 30 days?

Any advice would be appreciated.  Thankyou.

You can do 2x land-border Visa Exempt entries each calendar-year, so if you only need 60 more days - then headed home - this would work.

But, be sure your return-trip Does NOT enter at the Poipet/Aranyaprathet entry-point.  Any other land-border will be OK.  If coming from Siem Reap/Ankor Wat, you will have to travel a couple hours out of your way to avoid Poipet/Aranya.  It is worth the extra time to avoid having a formal refused-entry in your passport and the immigration database.

If you plan to stay longer than 60-days - or stay here frequently and for longer-periods in the future, then a SETV from a Thai consulate abroad would be a good choice, and save your Visa-Exempt entries for cases where your SETV trip doesn't result in a Visa.

Flight from U-Tapao to Kuala Lumpur on Sunday 13, depart 16:40h.

Overnight in Kuala Lumpur

Flight from Kuala Lumpur to U-Tapao on Monday 14, depart 15:10h.

Would cost you about 4500 Baht plus cost for the night in KL (no baggage, no "add ons").

You would have an arrival by air (30 day exempt) and likely no questions asked for 30 day extension.

No hassle at KL immigration, no visa cost (for most western nationals).
