webfact
After meeting May, Japan's Abe says world does not want no-deal Brexit By Paul Sandle Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May greets Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Downing Street in London, Britain, January 10, 2019. REUTERS/Toby Melville LONDON (Reuters) - Japan's Shinzo Abe said on Thursday that the world did not want to see a disorderly Brexit and that he fully supported British Prime Minister Theresa May's withdrawal deal from the European Union now facing defeat in parliament. Some of Japan's leading companies in Britain have warned that a no-deal Brexit could be a disaster. After meeting May in London, Abe said it was scenario no one wanted to see. "It is the strong will of Japan to further develop this strong partnership with the UK, to invest more into the country and to enjoy further economic growth with the UK," Abe said through a translator at a news conference alongside May. "That is why we truly hope that a no-deal Brexit will be avoided and, in fact, that is the wish of the whole world." Japanese firms have spent more than 46 billion pounds in Britain, encouraged by successive British governments since Margaret Thatcher promising them a business-friendly base from which to trade across Europe. The future of Brexit remains deeply uncertain - with options ranging from a disorderly exit from the EU to another membership referendum - because British lawmakers are expected on Jan. 15 to vote down the deal May struck with the EU in November. Abe has been one of the strongest international supporters of May's Brexit deal since it was struck in November. When the two met at a G20 meeting in Buenos Aires in December, he asked for May's support to avoid a "no deal" and to ensure transparency, predictability and legal stability in the process. "Japan is in total support of the draft withdrawal agreement worked out between the EU and Prime Minister May which provides for transition to ensure legal stability for businesses that have invested into this country," he said. However, investors fear that if her deal is defeated as is expected then the world's fifth-largest economy could be plunged into a chaotic no-deal exit from the world's biggest trading bloc that would severely disrupt supply chains. Britain's business minister Greg Clark also said a no-deal Brexit would be a disaster and partners such as Japan need assurance that it will be avoided. May told reporters that the only way to avoid such a scenario was for lawmakers to support her deal. HONDA'S BREXIT CONCERN Japanese carmakers Nissan, Toyota and Honda build roughly half of Britain's nearly 1.7 million cars and have warned about the loss of any free and unfettered trade with the European Union after Brexit. Carmakers have warned that their factories, which rely on the constant delivery of parts to enter production cycles, would be severely damaged if Britain leaves the EU without a trade deal, forcing the need for customs checks at borders. In a sign of the concern, Honda said on Thursday it would shut its British operations for six days in April to help it counter any disruption. "This is to facilitate production recovery activity following any delays at borders on parts," Honda said in a statement. "These contingency provisions have been put in place to best mitigate the risk of disruption to production operations at the Swindon factory." Japan's ambassador to Britain, Koji Tsuruoka, issued a blunt warning about Brexit last February when he said Japanese companies would have to leave Britain if trade barriers made them unprofitable. Abe and May said they had discussed strengthening post-Brexit economic opportunities for both nations, with the Japanese leader welcoming Britain's interest in joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership trade bloc. Hardcore brexitteers are not pleased by anything, which would secure better future for the people of UK. Then again, she was put to do the impossible task. Well, she volunteered to take the position of power with her own will. Meanwhile the weasels like Farage, Johnsson, Mogg etc are constantly whining after they run away from responsibilities. Well, Mogg was never even offered any responsibilities as everybody knows how selfish right winger he really is. 5 hours ago, webfact said: Japan's ambassador to Britain, Koji Tsuruoka, issued a blunt warning about Brexit last February when he said Japanese companies would have to leave Britain if trade barriers made them unprofitable. Basil B
Please note Shinzo Abe remarks represent the interests of Japan not Britain. I am still think that remain is the best way forward but that would not be in Japans interests, Japan is interested with dealing with a country with one foot and one foot out of Europe. Moo 2
Right from the start, before the Referendum, if Boris the Clown and the like would have told the truth about problems on leaving the EU, there would not be any mentions of Brexit today. Still 51 to 49 per cent shows that it's not the end of Brexit yet. Considering an other Referendum win for staying, the EU should accept the UK only if they switch to the Euro. You obviously weren't paying attention how could you possibly have missed the dire warnings of the remain campaign prior to the referendum? Apparently if we voted leave we'd be plunged into an immediate recession, be hit with a punishment budget and WW3 would break out. The scaremongering didn't work the British people, sick of a system that only benefits the neoliberal elite voted for something different, voted to have a say in our future and an economy that doesn't revolve around the corrupt London based banking system. Also the result was 51.9% leave to 48.1% remain, it's kinda hard not to take what you idiots say with a pinch of salt when you can't even get such easily available information correct. Telling blatant lies like this undermines your credibility and makes you look like a blithering fool.

dunroaming
So now May has switched threats from "my deal or no-deal" to "my deal or we may get no Brexit". Clearly since she knows as she won't be able to push through no deal then she has to change tack and threaten Brexiteers with no Brexit if they don't vote for her deal. Just how stupid does she think we all are!

Whereas May is a disingenuously breaking multiple promises by trying to keep us shackled to the EU in all but name and in doing so going against the wishes of the majority of the British electorate. If we had a true leader like Trump rather than a remain traitor like May Brexit would be done and dusted by now.

That would be rather brave thing to do of May. Brave thing to sacrifice herself for her country. However, isn't the current legal standing of UK law that UK is going to do Brexit? That would mean that May doesn't have the power to withdraw Article 50, even if she for some reason would want to do so.

These turbulent times has allowed the loudest nutters to get their message through to the people. I think this will end after they have emptied their lungs. After that, most of the western style societies have to go through a reform. Reform to rethink what our societies are and what are the values we stand for. It's part of the essential renewal process, which at times, hurts ourselves. We'll find a new status quo after couple of years.

Like a parrot, "my deal or else a no deal Brexit, my deal or a no Brexit". She tried, very hard at great tax payer expense, to circumvent British parliamentary procedure so she could avoid all this and just implement whatever deal she fancied. Don't under estimate the sinister nature of the beast. Hopefully her political career is finished but she'll probably be allowed to the back benches to keep milking the generous salary and benefits. Meantime, as the UK heads to the cliff edge, she's too vain to admit she's wrong and take real positive action.

But the opposition under anti EU communist Corbyn, who hates the EU and UK, won't table a motion. Nor will any Tory, remainer or brexiteer. The Liberals are a joke no one takes seriously, and the fringe parties are all looking to make something for themselves out of the mess.
