Freedom in a society is best judged by the amount of interference the Government puts in the way of speech.

Unfortunately, in this World, its only the US and a few Scandanavians...maybe OZ too?

Dream on. Here a ranking from "Reporters without borders" for 2018.

From 180 countries the US makes a poor 45th dropping from 43rd in 2017.

  • Maybe its because of the bad news about Saudi Arabia, you know the female that escaped and all the comment about the country. They don't like others to know how the world views them.

dude that's silly chart from a money-grubbing left wing advocacy group has nothing to do with freedom of speech, and even its criteria for determining press freedom is suspect.

But hey Imagine dude on a street corner. He is carrying a sign that insults catholics, Jews, muslims and gays, alleges that the head of state of the country is a baboon spawned via gay sex between a donkey driver with no nose and a legless leper. He's wearing an SS uniform, waving a Nazi flag.

Now use your best critical thinking skills to analyze that situation. Is that fellow going to be arrested in those Free speech countries in Europe? How about standing in the middle of Saudi Arabia? Thailand? China? Any country in Africa? How about down there in Free Venezuela and Cuba?

The only place that loon would never be tried or convicted is in the United States of America. He might be arrested, but also might be suing for violation of his civil rights.

You can't do better than deflecting, dude?

You cant do better than taking a comment about freedom of speech and bringing up an loony advocacy website that has nothing to do the comment or anything about freedom of speech.

But let me make it easier for you. Name one country other than the USA where you can say ANYTHING you want under classic free speech rules (ie no threats of violence, incitement to riot).

Are you the one who determines the freedom of speech for all countries? Is it up to you to paint international organisations as loony, leftwing etc? It is not about what your constitution guarantees it is about what happens in real life.

I prefer a broader approach than your narrow minded, God'sown country bla  bla.

In other words,  in real life, you cant point to one country other than the usa Where there is true freedom of speech.

Free speech means you're able to say anything you want as long as it's not a threat to somebody else of physical violence. I don't know how much broader you can get.
