bank atm card forgotten in machine while on overstay need advices

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am currently on an overstay (that is being taken care of) and i forgot my international bank card in a Bangkok Bank ATM yesterday.

I went at the bank today and while they had the card in their hands they asked me to provide a copy of my passport.

Is it risky for me to give it to them? Or they only use it for identification purpose?

I told them i could also provide birth certificate. They told me that while i dont have to show them my passport itself, a copy of it is necessary.

Thanks you

They will likely only want a copy of the ID page, banks really don't care about your immigration status until you want to open an account.

If they are happy with a copy, then give them one.

Thanks for the replys!

Last time,I have left my atm card in bangkok bank atm machine. I tried to get it back in phra ram 9 branch which is inside Central Shopping mall, the girl asked me to show the page having the date of stay of extension. This is my experience.

I went to pickup a new card with my driving license as identification awhile ago as I've been doing for years and they said sorry, need to see your original passport

Eventually they gave it to me but said next time you need to bring passport so i think they might be checking visas in some banks
