Pattaya plans to be a big part of Thailand's bid to stage the world's Youth Olympic Games in 2026.

At the weekend the Pattaya mayor send his deputy Pattana Bunsawat and his team to check on preparations for a 40,000 seat football stadium in the Huay Yai area of Bang Lamung.

He found that it was on track for completion by 2020. Half was in place at the facility that has been proposed for years and has seen many delays.

The stadium is part of a complex referred to by Pattaya News as the Sports Complex of the Eastern Seaboard.

The next stage of the project will feature a swimming pool, velodrome and rifle range.

All of these facilities would help to make up Thailand's bid for the Youth Olympic Games in 2026.

The chief of the national sports' council will be visiting the site on the 8th of February.

A video on The Pattaya News showed the latest developments.

Call me old fashioned but shouldn't a Stadium and Major Sports facility have decent access/egress roads? TiT the plan is to plan to deal with it afterwards!

Thailands weight lifters should test clean by then....

Is the stadium built on the flood plain? Prepare for effects of bad drainage etc..

The swimming pool will be 49.5 metres long, the velodrome will be full of potholes, and the rifle range will cross a busy highway.

What a nice dream but still only a dream

Anyone have an exact location for this stadium ?

It's just behind the Indoor Stadium, been there for years, but never seemed to be complete.

If you drive down Soi 87 from the reservoir you can see it on your left, just after the turnoff to the old jet ski park.

Youll see it when you go to the Burapa Bike week, haha, the 3 days plus the few days leading up.

Do Thais know what a curator is?

If they do he certainly will have his work cut out.

I played footy at the oval near klong toey rama 1V. Ripped my kneecap open on a sharp rock embedded in the grass. Pot holes not uncommon on these fake grounds.

Olympics ????   555555555

Seems the plan doubled in size over the 10 years of on again, off again construction.
