Rimmer
Pattaya police warn against giving to charity street peddlers PATTAYA:--Pattaya’s police chief warned tourists against donating to street peddlers, saying many of the so-called charities they’re raising money for are bogus. Pol. Col. Apichai Kroppech said Jan. 24 that both Thais and foreigners are roaming the streets, hoping to take advantage of kind hearts. He said donors should carefully check their credentials before giving money. In any case, the public should contact the police about the panhandlers so their charity-fundraising licenses can be checked. The warning came after a group of Filipinas was arrested for raising funds for a children’s group. They presented genuine-looking documents for the charity and raised about 5,000 baht in three hours, but the “charity” didn’t exist. -- PATTAYA MAIL 2019-02-01--

balo
You want to help, donate directly to the children's home , and organizations in Pattaya who need the money and do a good job. There's plenty of them around. I never give to street beggars.
Lucius verus
That's one of the oldest scams in Thailand. They still ply their trade along Silom road in full view of the cops. Not just bogus charities but also women holding 'rent a babies' and sitting near pedestrian bridges and of course fake buddhas everywhere from 8 am onwards. Real monks have disappeared by 7,30 am. Tourists don't know. Police will do nothing. All talk leading up to CNY next week.
