47 Malaysians held in Cambodia after being duped by recruitment agency

PETALING JAYA: Police picked up 47 Malaysians in Phnom Penh after a recruitment agency apparently hoodwinked them by promising them high-paying jobs.

 

The Malaysians, including nine women, were rounded up on Dec 11 on the outskirts of the Cambodian capital on suspicion they were members of an international gaming syndicate, NST Online reported.

 

The Cambodian police informed the embassy, which sent its officials to check on the Malaysians.
