The Thai Raksa Chart Party's head office, which is normally bustling with red-shirt leaders, was almost deserted on Saturday.

 

After His Majesty the King issued a royal command late Friday night to effectively disqualify its prime minister candidate, Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana, the party leader and its executives did not show up at the office as usual in the morning.

 

Reporters monitoring the office on Chaeng Wattana Road, saw only five ordinary members and party supporters outside the premises.

 

The party nominated Princess Ubolratana as its prime minister candidate on Friday morning only to face a royal command that prohibits her from entering politics on the grounds that a member of the Royal Family must adhere to the long-held tradition that the Royal Family must be above politics.
