Hello all.

I have been living in Thailand for 10 years on a retirement visa with my Thai partner .. not legally married.. and her daughter 13 years old by a previous marriage to a Canadian man who is deceased. I fully support them. I would like to adopt her daughter. Has anyone been through this process before sucessfully and might be able to advise me or should I put it in the too hard basket. I have read a lot on Google but unable to locate information on the procedure.  Cheers.

You have to be married to legally adopt, she is already sort of a adopted step daughter and you have been here 10 years and the daughter is 13 years old now so why now.

That alone makes it almost impossible. Non-Thai applicants are expected to be legally married.
