Unexploded ordnance killed dozens so far this year: CMAA

The Cambodian Mine Action and Victims Assistance Authority yesterday said that 20 people fell victim to UXOs so far this year.

 

CMAA first vice president Ly Thuch said during the commemoration of the 20th National Mine Awareness Day in Battambang province that 10 victims were in Tbong Khmum province, four in Battambang, two in Banteay Meanchey province, two in Preah Vihear province and one each in Kratie and Ratanakkiri provinces.

 

“The reason why people get into danger is because they pick up and try to modify UXOs for other uses, and step or drive over landmines,” he said.
