Pheu Thai No 1 choice, but well short of majority

Most commentators seem to think this is the most likely scenario. The Senate can vote to elect a PM and on bills regarded as pertinent to national reform but not in no confidence debates.  Therefore a government that doesn't have a majority in the lower house is going to have problems in addition to the normal problems of coalitions.

The no confidence filing not only extend to the PM( assuming his dirty tricks did the job) but also to any of his ministers. Just need 1/3 of Parliament to file that motion and debated. Wouldn’t that be fun and games having Prayut defend his policies. Should the pro-democracy coalition has the numbers, Prayut will be one hell of a jam. The appointed senators would just have to watch on the sides. The junta will be kicking themselves for not fixing the constitution to have a bicameral voting on no confidence motion.

Very simple, if any party controlled by thaksin wins, there will be another coup !

  • Absolutely spot on.   Utter garbage from the Nation as usual. They have an agenda and will print whatever suits it regardless of any reality.   Their agenda here is to attempt to d

Well now, with Thai Raksa Chart out of the running, how will that affect the mathematics?

Since Pheu Thai weren't standing against them, I wonder where their ( Thai Raksa Chart) votes will go?

Future Forward?

Is it a case of one down, two to go?

Thaksin made an utterly stupid move with Thai Raksa Chart but it would be very difficult to justify dissolving PT or FF on any of the evidence so far offered. The votes for Thai Raksa Chart will surely go to FF- or Seri Ryan Thai.

No need for any more coups. The NCPO chooses all the senators, and can also select the Prime Minister.

Phue Thai should form a coalition with Democrats to bring democracy back to the country and show the current administration that their time is up, coups are old school at the country has seen enough of them. I know it is opposite ends of the spectrum but it depends if you want to try and regain the a democratic system, they might agree on that and they both want to downsize the military and get rid of conscription.
