Passport renewal question

I need to renew my passport as I am running out of pages.

 

Does anyone know what happens if I need to pick up a parcel during that time? Will the post office accept a copy of my passport?

 

Even worse, what happens is immigration police decides to stop me and check my passport which I won't have.

You worry too much. I have lived here many years without being asked for my passport in the streets. Take copies of main page, the stamp from the airport and TM 6 card and keep those. 

Do you have a local driving licence to pick up parcels?

Most embassies here give your old passport back to you after your apply for a new one.

Have you confirmed yours does not give it back to you.
