Crime Jealous Husband Arrested After Shooting Wife Dead in Sa Kaeo
Picture courtesy of Kaoded. A manhunt launched after a shocking domestic murder in Sa Kaeo province has ended in the arrest of a 35-year-old man, who allegedly shot his wife in the back of the head following a jealous outburst. Police confirmed the suspect was apprehended in Aranyaprathet District less than 24 hours after the fatal shooting. The suspect, Mr Somjet, also known as “Tee Noi,” allegedly committed the crime at around 19:00 on 27 May, at a housing project in Soi 9, Sa Kaeo Municipality. The victim, Ms Wasana, 35, was rushed to Princess Mother Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead later that evening. The murder sent shockwaves through the local community, especially after it emerged that Mr Somjet, recently released from prison for drug offences, had resumed a relationship with Ms Wasana, with whom he had one child. Their reconciliation quickly turned toxic, reportedly due to Mr Somjet’s controlling behaviour and jealousy over Ms Wasana’s work at a casino across the border in Poipet, Cambodia. After the shooting, Mr Somjet fled the scene in a black Nissan March (registration from Nakhon Phanom), heading east on Highway 33 towards Watthana Nakhon and Aranyaprathet. Police issued an urgent public alert, describing the suspect as armed and dangerous and urging residents not to approach the vehicle. Acting swiftly, the Sa Kaeo Provincial Police Command deployed CCTV tracking teams to monitor the suspect’s escape route. The investigation revealed that after committing the murder, the suspect travelled to Wang Nam Yen District, where he allegedly disposed of the murder weapon, a 9mm pistol, before continuing towards Aranyaprathet. On the morning of 28 May, police confirmed that Mr Somjet had been arrested in Aranyaprathet. He was taken into custody. Colonel Sarawut Iamsamang, Superintendent of Sa Kaeo City Police Station, praised the efforts of the investigative and surveillance teams, who managed to bring the suspect into custody within 24 hours. A local news page, Sakaeo Reality, announced the arrest with the message: “Urgent! Brutal husband who shot his wife in downtown Sa Kaeo captured. Congratulations to Sa Kaeo Police for apprehending the suspect in less than 24 hours.” According to reports, the couple had a troubled history, with frequent arguments stemming from jealousy. Witnesses stated that Mr Somjet believed Ms Wasana was involved with another man while working at the Poipet casino. After a heated confrontation on 27 May, he reportedly pulled a 9mm handgun and shot her at close range. Their child, who had been in the care of a monk, remains with extended family. Friends and relatives of the deceased gathered at the hospital in grief, expressing outrage and sadness at the loss. Local authorities have faced increasing pressure to crack down on drugs and domestic violence in the region. Residents have described Soi 9 and nearby areas as plagued by narcotics and criminal behaviour. The investigation is ongoing, with police expected to press multiple charges against Mr Somjet, who is currently in custody awaiting formal indictment. Adapted by Asean Now from Kaoded 2025-05-29. -

Report Thaksin Rallies Behind Yingluck in Rice Case Drama
Her brother getting into the fray won’t help her cause. They want blood but are going after the wrong sibling. I mean, if every politician had to answer monetarily for potential errors (actually that’s not a bad idea), there’d be nobody running countries. Look at the HUGE damage Blair did to the UK, for example! Presidents aside (LBJ), well over and above what any PM past and present has achieved. This will get thumbs downs from the usual subjects (I don’t care! It’s petty)… but Yingluck? Again, a delicate flower paying for her brother’s activities and getting the shaft from the system. -
