Any grass ovals/fields on which to go bare foot running near Major Cineplex Lotus?

Featured Replies

I like to run on grass so I can run bare foot.

Will be staying near the Major Cineplex Lotus & Central Samui (close to the Thai International Hospital).

Are there any fields/ovals close by on which I can run that are grass?

May I suggest that you would be taking a considerable risk running or walking barefoot on grass in the tropics. There are all kinds of nasty things that lurk around in grass, not just animals and insects, although there are an abundance of those, but even the grass itself.  Not a good idea.

You never walk on the beach bare foot or swim in the ocean?

Come to think of it, you never drive a car anywhere?

Not sure what driving a car has to do with going barefoot, however, that aside, no, I don't walk barefoot on any beach in Thailand, having seen what is strewn around, and I have a pair of light rubber slipons  for the sea.

Agree.

Add to this, broken glass shards etc.

Ocean and beach are totally different. parasites like hookworm (very common here) live in soil.

Is that so you can get there quickly in the event of cuts, or dog bites, or whatever?    LOL

Any serious suggestions or just old grannies peddling fear porn?

Just people in the know being sensible. Good luck with your bare feet mission, you may need it.

People who have each likely lived here a lot longer than you have. And speak from experience.

But suit yourself.....

Since most of you are married, or smoke/drink, you really cant talk about common sense.

I guess thats the socialist mindset tho; good for thee, but not for me?!

Thats your go to argument... cos most of us are Married or Smoke / drink you assume any response is from a Married Drunk Smoker... then you mention common sense !!!!!

There are places where you could run... but you haven't exactly lended yourself to positive responses instead choosing to attack the posters who are offering sage advice.

The Grass here is different to many of our home countries, its not really comfortable to walk on barefoot for the most part.. but if you are still insistent see if you can find a Grass Football pitch to run on... they're about...

Not really.

Agree with @PoorSucker, run barefoot on the beach. That is what many runners does, and some of the beaches are quite perfect for that, especially in the morning or evening when not too hot in direct sun. I meet many bare-feet runners daily, when I walk a couple of kilometers bare-feet on the beach; I however would not walk, or run, bare-feet on grass in Thailand.

If you have pair of running shows, there's supposed to be a fine path along Chaweng Lake, almost all way around it.

By the way, be aware of dogs, some of them don't appreciate running folks.

Many people jog along at Chaweng Lake every evening, there is quite a wide promenade on the beach side, about a km or so. There are not normally any dogs there so that isn't a problem.

The gras and the ground are much harder and sharper than in Farang country. It's also very hot directly in the sun. There are many insects too. And you don't want to know what is in the area 1 meter below surface. But with shoes walking through the forests is very nice.

BTW on Samui that complex is called Tesco Lotus Chaweng
