Change Mindset Of Caucasians

recently read the following letter to the editor in a foreign newspaper - where? and we thought thailand is alone with its caucasian issues ...:

"we refer to the article "of XXXXXXX girls and white men", by XXXXXXX.

the article explores the relationship that XXXXXXXs have with caucasians through the use of the XXXXXXX girl icon. The XXXXXXX girl was created by a white man, and showed the perception our colonial masters had of us: meek and subservient.

many people today feel that we no longer need to use the XXXXXXX girl to attract the white male customers.

our colonial hang-ups are also deemed to be the reason why westerners who are born and brought up here are not considered part of XXXXXXX's society.

we do not deny that caucasians play a role in XXXXXXX's growth and development, but we believe the reason they are not represented as part of the nation is that they are simply too few in number.

(...)

how many of us here actually have close caucasian friends? how many caucasian students are there in our neighbourhood schools?

the caucasian man dining out at the (...) is still a rare sight to the heartlanders. hence, many XXXXXXXs feel uncomfortable accepting the addition of a caucasian face to our nation-building posters.

a lack of understanding towards caucasians has led to the common perception that "all caucasians here, no matter where they come from, are overpaid booze-loving sex maniacs out to plunder our land and steal our women".

though changing this perception is not easy, we can start with the younger generation. schools can start by raising students' awarness of the contributions these caucasians have made in XXXXXXX's nation-building efforts.

let us work together, accept them, make them feel at home and become a part of our society."
