New York attorney general is investigating Trump projects: New York Times

(Reuters) - The New York attorney general's office is looking into ties between Deutsche Bank and Investors Bank and several Trump Organisation projects, the New York Times reported late Monday.

The attorney general's office issued subpoenas late Monday to the banks, which opens an additional line of inquiry into Deutsche Bank's dealings with Trump, the newspaper reported, citing one unnamed source.

The Democratic-controlled Intelligence Committee and Financial Services Committee in Congress have been exploring the finances of the Republican president and his businesses including his ties to Deutsche, one of the world's largest financial institutions.

Deutsche Bank has lent Trump Organisation hundreds of millions of dollars for real estate ventures and is one of the few major lenders that has given large amounts of credit to Trump after a string of bankruptcies at his hotel and casino businesses during the 1990s.

The newspaper said the new civil investigation into Deutsche was prompted by congressional testimony last month of Trump's former personal attorney Michael Cohen.

Cohen testified that Trump inflated the stated worth of his assets in financial statements. The former attorney submitted copies of statements he said had been provided to Deutsche.

Investors Bank was subpoenaed for records relating to Trump Park Avenue, a project it had backed, the Times reported.

Neither the New York attorney general's office nor Trump representatives were available for comment early Tuesday. Neither Deutsche Bank nor Investors Bank representatives could be immediately reached.

SDNY are going to asset strip Trump while in office.

And there is absolutely nothing he can do to stop it.

Firing people in the FBI? No, that won’t work.

Hand picking people for jobs in the DoJ? No that won’t work.

Sending Nunes on ‘errands’? No, that won’t work.

Running a coordinated misinformation campaign with Fox News? No that won’t work.

Most things will amount to nothing but big businessman Donald Trump has always played fast and loose with the truth and has regularly shown himself to be morally and ethically as bankrupt as his businesses. Russian oligarch money laundering, getting money out of Russia buying Trump property developments. I am already looking forward to the next US Presidential election. By far the best reality TV.

What would be interesting is whether the NYAG would have investigated the very very large "donation" the German government gave to the Clinton Foundation just before the POTUS election Hilary was expected to win.

Well those of us who actually are US citizens and civil libertarians see the issue as a bit more than just screeching about President Trump. I dont cheer on any political prosecution. But Im off to get a Thai omelet, have a fabulous day!

Enjoy your omelet, see if you can get one containing evidence that the pursuit of Trump’s crimes by the NYAG is politically motivated.

If that's true it is a gift to Trump supporters. The only way I see Trump ever being re-elected is if the other side over plays their hand and makes him a martyr. A repugnant martyr to be sure.

I'd be very surprised if Trump were shown to be a money launderer. By proxy maybe. Through Deutsche Bank, sure, as that's kind of their modus operandi but I'm sure there's plausible deniability there with the bank cutout in place.

They are going to ruin the Trump name. He has done SOOOO many shady deals over the course of his misguided life, it's karma slowly unfolding. All it will take is one corroborating witness to finally put him down, and with as much smoke as there has been, there will be fire. He should have stayed in his place having affairs and screwing people in business deals. The chickens are coming home to roost.

I always found former FBI director Comey's announcement of reopening investigations into Hillary Clinton a week or so before the election was foul and certainly instrumental in her losing. Mind y'all, I hated that <deleted> worse than cancer, but Comey's action was just wrong.

I'd bet my bottom dollar he will get nailed for falsifying documents/numbers regarding his real estate and tax evasion. It's brought down bigger fish in the past, and the Trump name will forever now be mud.

I sort of get it. The FBI (who later got caught showing a preference for a winner) gave immunity to her co-conspirators who said she did nothing wrong while they destroyed the evidence. That's gonna leave a bad taste in people's mouths and of course that's why we've got Trump now.

Could be, but I'm guessing those have probably hit the shredder by now.

Trump is so obviously a conman.  It seems throughout his life, if Trump had a choice between making money ethically/legally, or making even more money unethically/illegally, he would ALWAYS choose the latter.  Now it's all coming home to roost.  Trump was always able to hide it all with shady lawyers and accountants and no one cared.  But not anymore.  The worst thing that's ever happened to Donald Trump is being elected President.

No, Cohen turned over 3 years (2011-2013) of shady deal records and those will be confirmed by the bank(s). It's not a question of whether or not he cheated, it will be to what extent. If it's outlandish enough in disparity of actual vs inflated/deflated  value(s), he'll do time.

I like a good comeuppance, but I'll believe it when I see it.
