Cabinet approves 5bn baht agro subsidies

 

   

BANGKOK, 14 March 2019 (NNT) - The weekly Cabinet meeting has allocated another five billion baht to support rice agriculture during the current production year. 

 

Adviser to the Prime Minister’s Office, Natporn Jatusripitak, revealed that the Cabinet this week approved an additional agricultural assistance budget of approximately 5.07 billion baht. The funds will go to harvesting assistance and quality development for rice farming in the 2018-19 production year. 

 

Of the amount, roughly 4.96 billion baht has been earmarked for agricultural assistance and 109 million baht for the operations of the state-owned Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC). 

 

Financial aid for rice harvesting will be disbursed at a rate of 1,500 baht per 0.16 hectares, capped at 1.92 hectares or 18,000 baht per agricultural household. The government has set a target of benefiting 4.06 million households, which would reportedly cost 56.47 billion baht. 

 

Currently, over 278,800 households managing 556,800 hectaresi of farmland have registered for assistance, which translates into 5.22 billion baht in agricultural aid. 

 

The Cabinet meeting also approved a redistribution of funds in the one million homes project. Under the new loan framework, 40 billion baht would go to those earning under 25,000 baht per month, while 10 billion baht would go to those earning more than 25,000 baht per month. 

 

For those earning under 25,000 baht a month, the home loans carry an interest rate of 3% for the first five years. Those earning more would have the same interest rate for only three years. The changes were prompted by the higher than anticipated number registering in the lower-income bracket.

Overt bribery.  Also campaigning on the taxpayers dime while promoting his songs as a backup plan if he is tossed in 10 days!

 

This crowd will do anything to get all those red shirt farmers on their side.

Why wait until days before the election to come up with this scheme?

If that is not vote buying, what is?

Using taxpayers money,to buy votes,it's that simple.

Well Colin, to be fair, most politicians or people in general for that matter will copy what works. They see what successful people have done, emulate the tactics and before you know it they can retire in Dubai.

Bearing in mind that the average monthly wage in the North and North East is somewhere in the region of ฿9,000 to ฿10,000, why should the Government be surprised by the numbers registering in the lower income bracket! Shows how out of touch with the majority of ordinary folk the government are. There is life outside Bangkok you know :-)

Thai Raksa Chart members might be violating the law that prohibits attempts to influence voters. The law clearly says voters must make a decision independently and without any outside influence.

Well, there's the answer.

The Prayut regime is not an outside organization.

As NCPO Chief Prayut has declared that its not bound by caretaker rules for a government that is going into a General Election as per the Constitution, it can be said to be very entrenched as an inside organization.
