Lat Krabang police were called to a area where earth is loaded onto trucks just after midnight last night when it was reported that a man died following a knife fight between two drivers.

Dead at the scene was Suchart Phoncharoen, 38. His neck had been sliced from the back of his head to his ear and he had lost a finger on his right hand.

Two "sparta" knives covered in blood were recovered at the scene.

The man responsible was 26 year old Surawit Khongkhathong who suffered a head wound and cuts to his body. He was taken into Lat Krabang police station for questioning.

He told police that earlier yesterday he had been slow in paying Suchart money that he owed him. He had been unable to locate an ATM at the market and Suchart had got cross. There had been an argument but no further trouble.

After this Suchart went drinking and came back paralytic. Surawit said he was trying to sleep in his cab when Suchart revved his engine and turned on his indicator lights which annoyed him.

Both men went and got knives to sort out the disagreement.

Suchart came off worst.

Surawit has been charged with murder and detained.
