I've been to the track here a couple of times. On one occasion I saw a horse die on the track in the pre-race parde to post. He just keeled over, presumably from the performance enhancing injections he'd been given. Another time I saw a horse in the home stretch, leading by 5 lengths, with a jockey pulling on the reins so hard to get it to slow down. Apparently it was not supposed to win.

From what I've observed, ignore the parmutual odds boards and keep your eyes focused on the crowd in the stands instead. There you will find a clique of people determin8ing which horse shall win the race. when they go to the betting window, follow them and bet as they do.

I love going to the track, but I cannot support this three ring circus.

It's part of the Keystone Kops style of life here that I find very attractive.

I can accept the races being fixed to a certain extent, but it's the cruelty to the animals I can't abide.
