I have had a thai bank account for several years but only got around to trying to open one for my other half last few days this was my experience :

1, went to own bank asked to convert my present account into a joint account reply cannot do that

2, okay need to open account for other half yes but she needs to provide her work permit ( we are on multy entry visa not looking to work )

3, Tried 3 other banks same reply new regulation need to show work permit.

4, went into TMB they stated the same manager overheard asked me if we had long term lease agreement on rental house if so bring that in.

5, went back next day showed 6 month lease got bank account no problem.

6, I then went back to my own bank instructed them to transfer k800 into TMB account all panic broke out and within 10 minutes my other half had another

bank account she now got 2 bank accounts to my one what ever happened to the work permit rule !!!!!!

as normal the rules are open to interpretation by the people at the bank
