March 13, 200719 yr Author but time is short, as im pumping out heaps of extra shifts on the fire station so i can get back to the mighty los. just curious, what do you firemen do when there is not fire to put out? sit around scratching your ass and play cards ? watch tv ? polish the fire truck ? the daily life of a firefighter on shift at fremantle fire station, city of perth, for the my friend grover. on a good day, start day shift @ 8.00 am and muster in duty room. ensure all staff are present, raise flag and fill out daily log. 8.15 am to 8.45 am, check all machines and equipment, ensuring all is ready for immediate turnout to any possible incident. = fire, road accident, train accident, chemical spill, building collapse, fuel spills, medical emergencies to assist ambulance and get cat out of tree if we are feeling happy . and anything else that humans find themselves in distress. 8.45 am to 10.00 am = work out in gym. 10.00 am to 12.00 pm, = building inspections, hydrant inspections, public education in schools, fit fire alarms in senior citizen's private houses. ( every day shift is different and we will choose one of the above as to the priority) 12.00 pm to 1.00pm. = lunch. 1.00pm to 2.00pm. = domestics on fire station. ( cleaning fire station , toilets, kitchen, floors, ensuring all is good for on coming shift) 2.00pm to 4.00pm = ongoing training on airial appliances, first aid updates , rescue technique , new equipment. 4.00 pm to 6.00pm = stand down time for all firefighters, our time is our own to play pool, cards, television, sleep, cook food, have fun, gym or whatever we want to do. 5.00 pm to 6.00pm = oncoming shift starts to drift in and day shift swaps with night shift ensuring 100% turnout at all times. 6.00pm = night shift crew on duty till 8.00am next morning. 6.00pm to 6.45pm = night shift again check all machines for operational capability. 6.45pm to 8.00am= all firefighters on standdown, time is there own, but at all times must be ready to respond to any incident. if new recruits on station training will take priority. " bad day at fremantle as has been the last week," attend property fire, attend road accident, attend bush fire, attend $5000,000 million dollar heritage hotel fire in city of fremantle started by arsonist, attend another road accident, attend another bush fire, attend another road accident, spend 3 hours doing inspection at freo hospital. got to tell you grover, im just about shagged this week and its only just started, so im expecting you to fire in a few posts for me as i wont be around much. i got to work an extra 8 shifts this month so i can come back to the mighty los A.S.A.P. i dont get all this time off for nothing, but i dont mind putting in when im here, as all the extra shifts come back in credits. but i got to tell you mate, i love my top job as a firefighter, as its a brilliant career, the rewards are immense, working with some truly brilliant people and serving the community of fremantle and perth. now grover my good friend, you may have noticed that DR PEPE dont like me, but many people do so i'll hang with them. thank you very much. terry. PS. i hope ive answered your question regards the day in the working life of terry.

March 14, 200719 yr And for obious reasons arsonists are slightly over-represented within the fire-brigades aswell. Terry can probably create his own overtime if needed. It's not like flame-wars is something he hasn't been involved in before.

March 14, 200719 yr I suppose they'll be tried as juveniles, not as adults? I know I sound like an old fogey, but what is the world coming to?

It's not like flame-wars is something he hasn't been involved in before. thats funny you mention firefighters turning arsonists, as that has been proven true in western australia. there is difference though. never has a " professional fire fighter " been convicted of arson in western australia. the firefighters that have been convicted have all been volunteers looking for a bit of action. thank you very much
March 15, 200719 yr never has a " professional fire fighter " been convicted of arson in western australia.the firefighters that have been convicted have all been volunteers looking for a bit of action. thank you very much Sydney went through the same thing a few years ago. Again, never professionals.
March 15, 200719 yr I guess that makes sense. Kinda like security guards often are people who failed to join the police academy and sometimes end up in situations with guns that was the reason for their rejection to begin with. The bank security guard that shot a customer in the leg some months ago comes to mind...
March 19, 200719 yr Well, I think it's fair to say that that's the end of the childish, backslapping humour...

March 19, 200719 yr We, the BSB (Bedlam Supervisory Board) strongly discourage the use of smileys. Smileys are an unnecessary burden on the bandwidth as they do not carry any real information and could be considered as gibberish, which we, the BSB, always have condemned. (now everybody: booooboooo.....quarter NR on the market place.....etc...) May we ask you, NR: what is your last word before we burn the stake? (everybody: burn the witch!....we saw her posting in a closed thread!....etc) raro Spanish Inquisitor-in-chief of the BSB <curtain...end of drama>

March 20, 200719 yr Sorry, I'll be a good boy now. Erm, I wasn't being derogatory. Did you see this post: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...536&hl=<deleted> Edited March 20, 200719 yr by The Dan Sai Kid

Did you see this post: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...536&hl=<deleted> Well one would think that the offending thread will be closed soon because as we know <deleted> is an offensive word. The solution to all problems is for ThaiVisa to recycle it's members. Every 6 months they should ban everyone and start anew. That way you won't have people posting the word <deleted>.
