Hello,

I came to Thailand on visa exemption (30 days) and planning to stay here for about 60 days ( a bit less than 60, actually)

I am planning to get an extension of stay, instead of doing border run.

Question 1) I wonder if there is any disadvantage for entering Thailand in the future, if I have multiple (or several) 'extension of stay' stamps on my passport. (instead of the normal entry stamps I would get when I do a border run)

I already have one extension stamp (it was from last year, and it was also an extension of visa exemption entry. I have no Tourist visa on my passport) and the extension stamp was quite big (and stands out).

I think the IMO was looking at the stamp when I was entering through BKK, even though he didn't ask any questions to me.

Question 2) Also, have you heard any 'unofficial rule' for the maximum number of 'extension of stay' on 1 passport? (like the unofficial rule of max # of Tourist visas on 1 passport)

Your answer would be very much appreciated.

(For the info, my entry pattern has been 2 months in Thailand, 4 months in my home, 2 months in Thailand, 4 months in my home,.. and again..)

Thanks.

Nothing wrong with getting the extension. In reality it looks better to get one than doing a border run for a new entry.

Also it is best to save your 2 per calendar year visa exempt entries at land border crossings in case you need one later.

Thank you for your fast and kind reply!

Your answer is really a huge help!

Again, thank you so much!
