JRG23
Hello. My two-year driving licence has expired (about six weeks ago). At Pattaya, can I apply for a new five-year driving licence or must I start again with another temporary licence? Does anyone know? If so, what documents might I need? Will I need any immigration letter from the UK embassy? (I have a UK driving licence.) Thank you!! J
mahjongguy
- If you are here on annual extensions of stay you can apply for a 5-year license. Otherwise, only another 2-year license. - As I recall, you can be three months late to apply. - Meanwhile you are driving without a license. You can be fined. Also, you have no valid insurance coverage. - Because you have been here more than 90 days, your UK license is no longer relevant. It might suffice at a checkpoint but your insurance company will be more thorough. - The Pattaya Land Transport Office will require that you present a residence letter obtained from the local Immigration office. Also, passport, copies of the passport, old license, copies of old license, and medical certificate. - Because you have completed the 2-year probation you will not need to take the written test nor the driving performance test.
