Cancelling ED Visa Bangkok

I have to go to immigration in Bangkok next week and cancel my visa from my university. Can anyone advise which desk this will require me to go to and which forms will be required? I wondered because if it is the same one as i did the extensions at then I would need to expect a long wait.

Why do you want to cancel it? Many people just leave the country without doing it.

Do you have a letter from the university stating the date your studies will end? 

I think it will be at the same desk that it was issued at.

Unless you plan on returning to resume your studies there is no need to have it canceled before leaving.

Thanks, Yes I plan to resume but have to go home for personal reasons for a couple of months.

Best to have it formally canceled. 

If you go to immigration a few days before the date on the letter they post date the cancelation to that day so you will have time to leave the country on or before that day.

Why not just get a reentry permit and continue on your current visa when you return

He is on an extension of stay (not a visa) based upon attending classes at a university which requires attendance to keep the extension valid. It is also possible his extension is ending while out of the country.
