Nine provinces hit by rainstorms

Rainstorms damaged 411 houses in nine provinces between April 5 and 7 but no casualties were reported.

The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department (DPMD) said on Sunday that rainstorms had ravaged the provinces of Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Loei, Phrae, Maha Sarakham, Ubon Ratchathani, Phitsanulok, Pathum Thani and Sakon Nakhon from Friday to Sunday under the influence of a low-pressure ridge.

“We are now coordinating with relevant authorities to deliver timely help to affected people,” DPMD director-general Chayapol Thitisak said yesterday.

According to him, surveys had been conducted to evaluate the damage so that compensation and assistance could be delivered in line with the Finance Ministry’s regulations.

The Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms for some parts of the Central Region, the East, the Northeast and the South.

“Please keep abreast of weather conditions and updates and watch out for rainstorms that may hit your areas,” Chayapol said.

Those needing assistance can call Hotline 1784 round the clock.

Send it over to Chiang Mai so we can breathe.

"Nine provinces hit by rainstorms"

Fake news.???? Number is ten. 3 hours of great rain last night in Kap Choeng Surin.????

Rain a few days ago and a nice steady rain for a few hours last night here in sunny Kanchanaburi....lovely clear air too.

The gen has ordered it as his one week plan looks in tatters????

Make that 11. Though not listed, Phetchabun was hit with a huge rain and strong gusting winds. Power was knocked out for a few hours which is typical for the first big storms of the year. Backup generator getting good usage.

The Thai meteorology department has very good live maps of rainfall and I find it very accurate.

www.tmd.go.th

It did show very heavy rain in Kanchanaburi last night and many other areas. A bit in Bangkok, but think we missed most of it.

Make that TEN again, not a drop in Phitsanulok.

Make it 11-15 !

Chon Buri has been getting hit with a monsoon almost every day (twice yesterday) and there's no way it hit there and missed Rayong, Trat, Chanthaburi, Prachin Buri, Chachongsao and other provinces.

Nothing where I am in Udon - the morning garden watering ritual getting old, been happening since mid September when the rains abruptly stopped! ????

Yes it did. Radar showed a small storm centre over Nongprue, which formed there anddid not move for over two hours, dumping a huge amount of water. It eventually decayed and moved off over Pattaya into the gulf. Another smaller cell formed east of Sattahip and moved north, but didn't amount to much. Nothing showed on radar east of a line from Ban Pakong to Rayong.

Yeah, just heard a few thunderclaps and checked that link - sure enough, another heavy rainstorm seems to be forming to the East of Pattaya/Nong Prue again.

We may be on track for the first Songkran in living memory (well in mine, at any rate, dating back 11 years in LOS) when drenchings will be of the natural, rather than man-made, variety

well good it is not in CM and so, otherwise you have acid rains on your head

Better UI than Thai meteo, seems the source is the same though, weather radars at Swampy and Sattahip & Rayong. Would be good if they added one in Chonburi, on top of the hills would be perfect.

And it might become a bit warmer too, the next days.

We don't have to talk about AQ and such nonsense...

Only 9 provinces hit by seasonal start of the monsoon season?.

Well, who would have ever thought that the start of Songkran was all about the start of the rainy season.

 US invented a good term - derh/derr
