Thai Rath reported that everything was quiet at an address in downtown Songkhla where transferred immigration chief Lt-Gen Surachate Hakparn would stay when visiting his hometown.

The shutters were up at the usually busy property in Soi 3 on Sai Ngam Road.

It was similarly all quiet at a property owned by Big Joke's mother and father in Singhanakorn district of the southern Thai province.

A policeman on guard outside refused to comment on the situation.

Surachate was transferred to an inactive post on orders from national police chief Gen Chakthip Chaijinda on Friday.

He was told to report to the 20th floor of Building One until further notice.

The plot thickens. I can't wait for him to come out of hiding, so we can all find out what he has been up to.

Missing huh? I wonder where we will see him next? Turning up for no work on the 20th floor of building one, or chatting with Thaksin in Dubai? Every other big shot in trouble seems to be able to slip out of the country unnoticed after all.

Just doing his job... well, and he's obviously upset someone that is powerful.

Not so sure he will be allowed to return to "rat race' I hope he does just out of empathy for a fellow human being ????

We are having a family debate.  The wife's sister who works for the government says he'll come back and I who know how to do research with a VPN say he's gone.  Then there are the TV mupputs still thinking it has something to do with immigration.

  • Popular Post

He most likely already is in the Dhaveevatthana prison. I doubt he will surface any time soon.

Does anyone remember Major General Paween a few years ago ? Maybe similar circumstances.

There is no mystery to what he did. He lost the nation billions of baht, by single handedly sabotaging Western tourism, and causing thousands of well intentioned, honest, law abiding ex-pats, many of whom owned houses, businesses and brought alot to the table, to leave or make plans to leave Thailand. This man was a one man wrecking crew. He was careless, reckless, mean spirited, megalomaniacal, he despises Westerners, and caused the nation grievous harm. He had to be stopped.

Of course he is in hiding. He was a publicity hound, and always sought the spotlight. Now, the spotlight is seeking him, and he is embarrassed and ashamed. He should be. He deserved this fate. This is the best thing to happen to the ex-pat community and the tourism market for a very long time.

I still don't know what Big Joke did. Is this to do with arresting that female cosmetic surgeon?

Yes indeed Thavornsiri. And nobody has noticed that another top cop who was in the spotlight is also missing in in-action?

More like a lot of low income old falang in singa and chang vests turning up and pissing through his metal shutters ????

Is a good laugh looking at the news here . Never a dull moment lol, my ribs are in agony & i feel i should someone for it lol .

The visa rules been going around in circles for year's, take it away then revert back etc etc . Wouldn't expect too much ease on visas yet as buck banana another major farang hater, he don't like ordinary thai folk much either unless doing his laundry ????

Surprised he isn't standing there pointing at it.

Spidermonkey007 why do you think he was bad?Because he was doing his job and cleaning up the overstayers, drug dealers, scammers, illegal entrants, and catching the criminals. If that's bad in your eyes you surely need a doctor.

As for the expat thing. The rules of immigration are made to be followed. Many weren't following the rules in regards to income and when the income affidavits stopped they were exposed.

Those who played by the rules and had the income have no problem staying in Thailand.

As for the tourists i'll bet a months pay 99.9% of them didn't even know the job he was doing or know of him.

Sounds you are one who didn't follow the rules and eventually got burned once they were properly enforced.

And re-publishing it in TV is not a good idea either.  On another matter , coming from Songhla, I wonder whether he was a Muslim ? If so I hope that would not be a factor in this story.

He won't show up anytime soon and it has nothing to do with upsetting farang retirees. Get a grip.

Maybe just a punt sideways into a post where his talent for upsetting apple carts can be fully utilised.

As the saying goes " out of sight, out of mind "

Such "switches" usually mean, that he must have stepped onto the toes of some seriously angry person of considerably higher standing within the Thai pecking order!

Their not just the deadbeats who were cheating the whole time and now are caught out. A few people get carried away with their discription of the situation. I know a few border line Brits here in CM they are just changing the way they stay and go home more often

Why don't you just tell us what happened ?
