I am thinking about it.

This year was an exception because I needed to be here. Next year is already timed with my visa so I will have nothing to do here and can go out again.

So it is not urgent for me to move.

I will observe the AQI next year during that time when I go away. If it is in the red area ("normal" air pollution") or if this year was no exception and for whatever reason there is much more burning every year now.

If it is the same thing next year, I will move. Not urgently, because I can go out. But within a few years because at some point in time I will need to stay here again, due to e.g. illness, immigration visits or something else. Just a matter of time when I hit a year where it is difficult to leave for such a long time (2,5 months).

Thanks for your input.  I think those of us getting older are faced with some difficult choices.  I have opened a new topic in Chiangmai forum ...... asking the same question as my post here.

The last few days it was indeed slightly better, but today it got worse again. AQI went from "unhealthy" back to "very unhealthy"

Yeah, 2 stations in CM city very briefly spiked past "1hr" AQI of 300 on aqicn.

Didn't check CMU CCDC or cmaqhi though, usually they display higher, they have a few more stations i think.

Complete rubbish. The visibility if anything was worse this morning from 10 floors up in Nong Hoi. Perhaps they are getting lower readings because the measuring instruments are clogged. Or a bit of deliberate massaging.

Thank you - I must have been lucky with no coughs, watery eyes or breathing problems.

Lucky, just because you don’t have symptoms? The tiny 2.5 particles which are 3% diameter of a human hair will already be deep in your lungs and eventually end up in your blood system.

Not at home but I can check my sensors remotely. This is near Chiang Mai University

Note that this is not an aqi number but ug3

The caption "Easing Slowly " is meaningless. Like the recent election result...... coming soon

Have to admit though around our area Hang Dong there has been an improvement, nothing to do with the time frame, maybe not a lot left to burn.

I did read that Hospital Authorities have treated 8,600 people over Northern Thailand for respiratory problems since Jan 1 .could well believe that.

Having been virtually house bound for the last 2 weeks I might have to set up a "Getting away from CM" fund for next year

Today judging by the haze on Hang Dong Rd this morning its gone backwards since yesterday. Rain is the only thing thats going to clean it up and according to www.accuweather.com that is way off and will be only thunderstorms which only means you might be lucky.

Any announcement that its clearing is just PR for tourists

Anyone coming here for the water chucking will be sorely disappointed in how hard it is to find a target the air today is the worst I have ever seen been all over the city today and the number of stalls flogging water pistols outnumbers the die hard players 2/1  ????
