Unbelievable 90-day report CM

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Yesterday I arrived at CM immigration about 1:30 PM. Got off my motorcy and started the phone timer. 1 minute and 33 seconds later I was back on the bike and going home with 90-day report finished. Great job CM Immigration!

Also, the only paperwork immigration wanted was the TM.47 and passport. Did not need or want copies of passport pages or other forms.

We can only hope that other offices will soon be as progressive.

Surely not! Thais are xenophobic and just want to make it harder and harder to live in the country!

Offices in Uttaradit want the same damn copies of everything again and again and again and so on ..... even though my status has not changed in 14 years.

Frustrating to say the lest. There's a bar code on the document for a reason, IO's.

Try to figure out what it is for please. Could it be so you can scan it without the added documents?

Is it Henry, the mild mannered janitor?  tw@@s.

Same in Pattaya.

Ditto in Udon Thani...handed over passport, IO entered passport number into computer...printer spits out a one page form which I sign at bottom...maybe 2 mins...on my way...

Get the damn on-line system working properly!

Or even better, dump this ridiculous idea altogether.

There should be no 90 days reporting as criminals in the first place.

Some already are. Phuket has a drive-thru kiosk. If you don't have to queue, it's also a couple of minutes. Just your passport, with the previous 90-day stapled in your passport. Don't even need a new TM47.

As a criminal you only have to report to the jailer[emoji16]

I know that xenophobes exist in every country but that the general Thai population, or those controlling immigration, are not in the least bit xenophobic!.

I also know that anyone that qualifies for a visa/permit generally gets them very easily; and that it's those that don't qualify, and/or are using all manor of creative ways to stay, that it's getting harder for them to stay.

Same in Chonburi, only passport is needed. Will take less than 5 minutes most days.

Thai immigration = Consistently inconsistent...NOT going to happen everywhere to everyone.  You are having a dream! As the OP said "Unbelievable"

I had similar good experience in Jomtein Immigration. The bar code on the old receipt saved time.

90 day report for what? To confirm my current address? In 14 years of reporting I've never been asked to confirm it by immigration, other than when I submit my application for my annual extension. Total B O L L I X and waste of time. But, it gets people through their doors, justifying their jobs, and the possibly of obtaining tea money.

SamutPrakran very fast as well for 90 day report. 5-10 mins max

5 to 10 minutes is not fast, unless it's a very busy office. In backwater Phichit, that would be enough time to have a coffee with the IOs and discuss Big Joke's whereabouts.

If you have to pay "tea money" for a 5 minute 90 day report, that is your issue....

So, why do so many people call this "jumping through hoops?"

Thanks for the post.

Where does it say 'I pay tea money'? It doesn't. What I was trying to put across was that some farang, irrespective of not having to pay anything for a 90 day report, will tip the officer. Over the years I've seen bottles of whiskey passed to an officer by pushing it over to the officer using ones foot. At Kap Choeng they have tip boxes, or used to have, conveniently placed between you and the officer.

In other words the system was working as it was supposed to be. Shows the state of the place when people get excited when they get a bit of civilised service in their IO. By the way, Pattaya immigration has been like that for years and for the 90 day report, you only need to take your passport with barcoded slip inside. No TM47.

I did a TM30 check-in on 17th. 15 minutes and done. Difference is it seems less Chinese and others in general and the system unless someone is doing paper work to freshly sign up into the system (which takes oodles of time) is working well. Now I just wonder about the renewal I will have later in Q4 and how efficient this runs. I just hate getting there at 4am and hope there is not more need to do this.

That's what happens at the Surin IO but all I do is hand over the passport and sit there everything else is done for me, takes all of 2 minutes.

Last week at CW (Bkk) for 90 day reporting:

Arrived 08.45, got out 14.30. I was ticket number 221.

I can't do on my Mac. My fault.

Why anyway? Stalinesque control-freakery. Where else do you have to report every 90 days? N. Korea? Most countries manage fine with checking passport in and out + hotel occupants submission. In Malaysia you get 3 months (free) and only see IO at the airport...then vanish for 3 months.

I am here since 2000 and met a lot of people.

I never had really bad experiences.

So I would extrapolate and  pretend that most Thai people are good/nice citizens.

Now I am pretty sure some may have had a few bad experiences.

I can than easily understand they also extrapolate.
