Well the farce that was the last election becomes even more farcical.

Anyone with an ounce of integrity within the EC would have resigned weeks ago.

Seppuku would be the only way forward now to redeem any sort of honour within the ranks of these idiots.

No one in Thailand has any integrity whilst the baht is their master.

Which is, of course, something which Thailand shares with the rest of the world. Only the currency is different.

Just admit it.....The powers that be have decided Thailand is not ready for a Democratically Elected Government

It will not be allowed & the EC will assist in maintaining  SOP=FUBAR

They have the broken excuse of a government they deserve

because they will not stand up & take their country back.

Thailand is not ready for automobiles either but that is a separate issue ????

Can I just alter one word in your first paragraph.

Whilst I agree in part that Thais will not take their country back it is very difficult, very painful and very bloody.

I doubt that many Mothers and Fathers would be happy knowing that if there is a revolution/civil war, (which it will take to get the military out), that their sons and daughters will be lining up to get shot down by military.

It is all well and good being a keyboard warrior as some people on TVF are, but it is a lot different when it is your own flesh and blood.

To achieve that needs months of strategic planning and a cell system similar to that used in WW2. A cell would be perhaps 5 people, but only one of them would know only one person in the cell beside or above them and so on.

The Democrat deputy leader Satit Pitutacha wrote on Facebook: ”Please, do not make any more mistake. Your agency has already suffered a severe credibility crisis.”

They don't know what mistakes have been made until they are told who is (was) supposed to win in each location. Once they receive instructions they will announce the appropriate errors!

การจัดการ (actually pronounced: gaanM jatL gaanM) means "management, handling, taking care of". It is not the correct word for "manipulation". RobMuir's post indicating กุศโลบาย (gootL saL loM baaiM) was correct, although it would be more commonly used for "strategy". ชักใย (chakH yaiM) is the best word for the verb "to manipulate", or "pull strings".

How does this election compare to the previous ones?  Guessing rather poorly.  Don said weeks ago rebuking the need for observers because Thailand had a history well ordered elections, though some still contradict Don and VOA saying  vote buying took place.  Now you have a government election body that cannot seem to count votes and it spends its time hassling one particular party.   Junta mania  just keeps ruining Thailand one day at a time.

kinda sounds like the antics in Florida 2000 Bush election lol...

As a Father I can agree it would not be a pleasant thought to have your children engaged in a fight

As more than a keyboard warrior I can also say freedom was never free in any great nation & will likely never be.

A country can do it themselves or if things get bad enough & if your country has anything to offer then another country will eventually step in & do it for you but...

in that case you then still do not have freedom to rule yourself but instead have a new master

Would it be best to end without bloodshed? Of course we all agree parents or not

Sadly I think it will end in bloodshed as the current lot don't want to give up power. There is another bloodthirsty lot waiting for their turn for a coup and the real HiSo's don't want to give up even 25 satang without making LoSo's bleed for it.

Keep up the pressure, keep it informed and mature and a move towards true democracy will be harder to resist.  Hopefully.

The International Commission of Jurists has reported recently, seeking  “the repeal or amendment of Head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) and NCPO orders and announcements in line with Thailand’s international human rights law obligations."

They have listed the junta’s contraventions of the country’s international obligations: military involvement in civilian law enforcement, arbitrary detention and arrest, lack of judicial oversight for detainees, the inability to legally challenge detention, the use of military courts, the restriction of peaceful assembly, restrictions on the media, and the infringement of community and environmental rights.

The people trying to hold onto power they never should have had with their threats, repression and guns should be responding to these points. Every day.

Amnesty International calls again on authorities to take no further delay in dropping .....proceedings initiated against individuals solely on the basis of their peaceful exercise of their rights. AI underlined its concern ..... of a long-standing tactic of holding up political opponents and peaceful critics with drawn out and lengthy criminal proceedings, regardless of whether the case comes to trial.

Amnesty International has put forward a Human Rights Agenda which outlines nine top human rights issues for the elected government to address. It calls for dropping criminal proceedings against a range of individuals, including politicians, lawyers, activists, and human rights defenders. They face prosecution charges, including sedition and criminal defamation, for organizing peaceful protests, criticising authorities and speaking about violations of labour rights.
