old re entry or new OA

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

I have a retirement extension and a re entry permit valid thru next October. I plan to go to my home country and get a new OA visa and come back to Thailand middle September.
Question is will I be granted until the old re entry permit expires or will I get one year from the new OA visa?
thanks

If you put your OA visas number on the TM6 arrival card the officer should stamp you into the country using it.

If the officer notices the re-entry permit he would ask which one you wanted to use or use the visa since the visa would allow a longer stay than it.

thanks ubonjoe

I understand then that in this way the old extension will be canceled and I will start from zero with the new visa.

correct?

When you enter using the OA visa your extension will be invalid since you would have a new permit to stay date.

In couple of years you would be able to apply for another extension based upon retirement near the end of you last one year entry from the OA visa.
