Thai Tobacco Monopoly set to roll ganja spliffs!

Thai media has reported that the Thai Tobacco Monopoly could soon be making its own marijuana spliffs.

TTM chief Daonoi Suthiniphaphan said that her organization was waiting for permission from the public health ministry regarding growing and potential uses of the drug.

It is yet to be decided if the TTM will do the growing themselves or be involved in cooperatives with other farmers.

If permission is granted then ganja will find its way into cigarettes.

However, those people who hope to get high on TTM cigarettes may be disappointed.

Daonoi said it was unlikely that ganja leaf would be rolled up in cigarettes.

This would contain THC the cannabinoid that makes people high.

More likely is that permission will be granted to use the ganja extract known as CBD oil that is not restricted in any way.

Even so this will be great for the Thai tobacco industry, she said.

Meanwhile Thai Rath reported that a seminar held in Chang Wattana featured a great deal of interest in the growing of ganja and the regulations surrounding production.

They said that full quotas for producing the drug for medical use would soon be taken up.

Not much THC in the leaves. Believe me , I've tried.

Had a Thai girlfriend that used to sell noodles and said the leaves were good for improving the taste but no getting high.

CBD oil mixed with tobacco leafs is not a waste of time! Could kill the pain of cancer in the lungs. A big selling point to hook manly young Thai males looking to blow smoke. This will be great for the Thai tobacco industry.

Perhaps I could offer you one of my green chocolate chip cookies. One would certainly change your mind.

Made from leaves or bud ?

I'm getting the distinct impression that people are getting the two mixed up.

Can be assured it will be approved, in the mean time vaping remains illegal ????

I doubt foreigners could ever get a medical-use certificate here.

But my vote would be for 510 cartridges, and gummies.

Pre-rolls in my home (U.S. state: both medical and adult-use aka recreational) are $12 for 0.75g at the local smoke shop.

The Tobacco Monopoly cashes in again.  I wonder whose names are on the board of directors?

  • Popular Post

With 50 years experience I comment that smoking leaves is ok.  Smoking stems and seeds gives me a headache.

I'd buy leaf spliffs or lids from the Monopoly,  heck I am buying from Somchai now.

Primo designer buds are like frufru coffee from Starbucks, Tasty, pricy, but not essential.

The Thai Tobacco Monopy will have a subsidiary called the the Thai Ganja Monopoly. The hiso big wigs do it again. "Thank you Khun Uncle Tu. We are happy to sponsor you"????????????

"Not much THC in the leaves. Believe me , I've tried."

Depends on the leaf.

I've had leaf from wild ganja that was like smoking newspaper.

I've smoked leaf from a Jewish Rasta grower in Big Sur California that was dynamite exploding in the head.

And I had a friend who made hash oil out of *male* plants that was also great.

So, it depends. ????

Unless heated, the thc is inactive, so eating doesnt have an effect unless well cooked, that is why the soup had little effect but cookies baked with leaves do, that and the cultivar, there are strains today with more thc in the leaf than in the old Thai buds.

My problem is, I can't smoke, it makes me sick. Any chance of edibles in the future ?????

Its state owned, the board members also have top positions in other ministries and state owned enterprises, the chairman and vice are also the Inspector General and vice of the Ministry of Finance.  Some other positions include heading the railways, PTT, and Bangkok Bank.

Great news not only driving drunk but stoned as well

I wonder if the seeds are from Afghanistan?

That's an improvement man, stoned drivers go slow and are often careful.

On the leaf debate, if it's from top plants like the ones we have in Canada then yeah, it's totally fine. But leaves from the subpar stuff Thai people call pot (lol, you can smoke ten grams of thai pot in a day and it won't get you as high as a tiny BC bud spliff...thai pot is ok but yeah, nothing like primo stuff from Canada or Amsterdam), then forget about it.

Better than Yabba...

Making pot legal does not mean everyone will suddenly start smoking - it only means those who do smoke will not be treated like criminals, by the most ignorant, corrupt police force in the world.

Ah, dear old bizarre Thailand...what can we say? A few months ago it was reported that Thai agencies were trying to prevent foreigners from getting weed patents because it "could lead to monopolies". Now we have the "Thai Tobacco Monopoly" applying for permission to get involved. ????

Is it bizarre?  They are just protecting their own, surely that is a good thing in a lot of instances? Wish the UK would do that a bit more than they do.

The TTM is state owned.
