The week that was in Thailand news: Forty years on: Wondering where Thailand (and us!) might be in 2059

I first went to Thailand in 1978 but have never lived there for more than 3 months at a time. I will have been married to my Thai wife for 40 years this Sept. In 2059 I will be 110 years old, so its unlikely that I will still around. I have no predictions except that life is full of surprises but not all surprises are pleasant.

I will be 104 and found dead in bed with two Thai girls, both in their 80's.  :shock1:

With young 80 year olds, you want to be known as a cradlesnatcher ?  ????

By 2059 If I'm not dead, my lovely wife will be praying it happens soon.

The woman has no sense of humour, old men farting is a part of life ( so I keep telling her ) :whistling:

well I was just tying to be realistic of what I can pull off at 104.

If you're still pulling it off at 104 the women shouldn't be a problem.

Great storytelling Rooster. Don’t ever give this up and as mentioned in an earlier post, do consider writing a book.

Thanks and I will.

I am keeping some of the best stories in reserve for when I do!

Indeed.

Nearly twenty years of togetherness means Mrs Rooster has become grudgingly accustomed to my Johnny Fartpants impressions.

Though she still takes umbrage at what she is now able to say in Thai as "follow throoo".

In the next 40 years may we all be blessed with small happenings that bring new enriching perpectives, an openness to be astonished, and years that gush with curiosity and joy.

I will be 110 in 2059.

My first visit to Thailand was in 1971; R&R from Vietnam.  This was the kind of 'war zone' I could like.

In 2052 my non-disclosure agreement will expire.  Perhaps I can remember a few Top Secret codeword teletypes or just interpret my cryptic crib notes.

I do not expect to reach either of those years.

Terry near Hua Hin

P.S.: My Thai wife and I have been married 46 years.
