Wild Turkey vs. Jim Beam??

Recommended Posts

Why is my local bigc selling Wild Turkey for less than half the cost of Jim Beam?  I have seen beam selling for 6 bucks a liter at Arizona Duty Free... Never really considered it premium.. 600 for a liter of WT, 81 PROOF... am I missing something?

when ye start on the WT yer out to get shitfaced (useta be 100 proof 30 years ago) from the get go whereas beam is a mellow tipple and mixes easier in bourbon cocktails...different markets so different prices...

prefer a neat malt whisky myself which is altogether different...with the prices to boot...now in retirement with the associated penury and sadly reduced to the local gilbeys vodka, OK with plenty of soda and a splash of lime juice...

Turkey and Pepsi ain't bad.  My bro swears the changed the jack Daniel's and ruined it a few years ago, and that was always preferred over Beam.  Wasn't there an 86 proof WT, also?

I am happy with Jameson here, but only do it in coffee.

with JD always straight up with a beer chaser...anything else is a waste of good whisky...

here comes tutsi thru the front door with a paper bag with bottles a clinkin' and the GF eyes me warily...'looks like you been readin' Bukowski again...you start with the loud symphonic music and this time I'll smash up yer whole collection...'...she managed to get at my copy of the eroica the last time after the 5th repeat...broke the vinyl over her knee she did...stuck with Schubert who's a bit more laid back...

I only drink spirits in bars. As a Brit of Scottish decent, I have always preferred single malt whiskeys. However, as single malts are impossible to find in bars. I started drinking JD on the rocks and am now a compete convert to bourbon.

However, I'm only able to find JD and JB. Would love to be able to try some of the more "quality" bourbons.

Any suggestions for a bar, in Pattaya, that offers a range of good bourbons, would be appreciated.

Malt whisky - that's the stuff the angels drink. Used to love it, now it is all priced way out of my range

Not local.  Actually made in America by W & A Gilbey Ltd..

Are you sure it's American produced? I read some while back lot of comments on Gilbey brand vodka and gin. People saying you could drink a lot with little effect. The claim was it was being produced in the Philippines and was considerable less strength than the 40% on the label.

Has anyone tried the Bell's Whisky here? It's still low priced in Big C. I bought some but it really doesn't taste the same as Bell's in the UK. I wrote a polite email to their marketing department and asked if it was intentionally different for this market. Got zero response. Just wondering if others find it different or if it's my battered taste buds from scoffing too much som tam boo pra rah!

Jack Daniels Tennessee honey ???? whiskey of the gods

I hope you are not referring to Jack Daniels with the honey added, bought a bottle a few years ago by mistake, how to spoil a great whiskey!

Gave it away after one mouthful.

Each to their own I suppose.

Pepsi in Wild Turkey?!

Jamesons in coffee!?

Don't you DARE deign to bugger up Blantons with your bloody sugar and caffeine fixes!!

The irish immigrant gold miners started doing it in California, while working the mines is the story..i skip the sugar, but cant find a thai instant without it..maybe you gotta go to a hospital for it..Ginger Ale is good with the bourbon, too, but if you mix 50/50 you get a better bite, fizz with pepsi, and a nice bite from the whiskey.
