BANGKOK, (NNT) - The Ministry of Finance and Student Loan Fund are providing loans for students at Bachelor and Vocational levels who graduate in the fields which are most in demand by 10 targeted industries and three major infrastructure developments. Upon graduation, the principal and interest on the loan may qualify for discounts.

Fiscal Policy Office Director Lavaron Saengsanit, has confirmed that the student loan project is to assist 10 targeted industries such as the modern automotive industry; smart electronics industry; high-end tourism; health care tourism and infrastructure schemes such as rail transport, merchant marine industry and logistics.

For students at a Bachelor level, the loan project spans five academic years from 2019 to 2023. Upon graduation, the Student Loan Fund will collect no more than 0.5% in interest and provide a 30% discount on the principal on condition that 70% of it has already been paid in installments.

Upon the graduation of students at vocational level, the Student Loan Fund will collect no more than 0.5% in interest and provide a 50% discount on the principal on condition that 50% of it has already been paid in installments. No discount on the principal will be provided if the student has failed to make repayments or graduate in the designated field.

About 150,000 students are expected to apply to the Student Loan Fund for which some 1.7 billion baht will be provided in each academic year.

….....it should be expected, particularly if the new mocy or pick up bought with the loan has been damaged in the meantime!
