He has during his term in office provided  stability to Thailand .

The Thai economy is strong along with the Thai baht.

There the highest level of household debt for decades. Any stability is a result of suppression and repression. The baht is too strong.

There is only one thing "international" that the Junta and their backers are concerned about, and it is not the community. Its the International offshore banks where there ill gotten gains are banked.

As if that wasn't mental illness. That pic shows 50 people that I can count. show a top down pic stretching down sukhumvit? no of course not they dont exist

Since the coup there has been an increase in mental illness caused by the coup.

Only good thing i see here is that if the junta want the Bumjai party that maybe they demand that the marijuana legalisation goes through for the rest its bad news.  The smaller parties have some power now.

But most are just bought by the junta (made a better offer as the PTP). That is how things go in coalition governments.

Still the EC stinks with the new seat allocation.

Isn't it a prime requisite of being a Junta member, backer or supporter to be mentally ill ? ????

I predict that we will know the results of the Australian election which is being held on Saturday 18 May before we know the results of the Thai election which was held seven weeks ago.

A horrific conclusion to this election. The people voted and made their choice known. Prayuth, get out. Yet, due to the heinous re-writing of the constitution, the army gets to steal another one. Nobody wants them. They are despised. There is no respect for the army, their abilities, and their competence. None. Yet, the nation gets stuck with these hapless goons for five more years. One thing is certain, many men will get super rich, and the nation will be a greatly diminished version of itself, five years from now. No corruption will be tackled. The primary issues of illegal fishing, human trafficking, and sex slavery will not improve. This army is moving the nation backwards at a pace that is astonishing.

A complete farce. So sad for the struggling economy and the disenchanted Thai people.

So much blatant cheating that the population has given up trying to change the status quo. There will be change one day in the future and it will be bloody.
I think so too. Repression can only last so long.

The party is expected to easily form the next government, since it needs only a few more votes in the elected House of Representatives to choose the prime minister under complicated new electoral rules written by the military regime.

Disgraceful.

I hope the rest of the world shun the result!

What collateral damage, from where ? .

From the free  and civilised,   Western white man ..  555

No no worries about anything coming from the "free & civilized world"

Mainly because Thailand has nothing the world wants

If Thailand did have something like say...Libya had?

Well the Junta would have long seen the same result

But no worries Thailand has nothing to offer so no outside help coming anytime soon

If Thai's want change they will need to take their country back themselves or be happy with the scraps they have.

Until then the self appointed pigs will continue to bury their snouts in the public tax trough

To summarize and add to my previous post, and points, in a more concise fashion:

1. They will continue to issue proclamations, declarations and crackdowns based on nothing but false puritanism, containing no substance whatsoever.

2. They will not focus any effort on traffic or public safety, because they do not care about the people, nor are they interested in reforming the RTP or the Highway Patrol, which is urgently needed, but never discussed.

3. They are only here to protect the elite, those in power, the police, the super wealthy, and those that are connected.

4. They will not be able to improve the economy as they only hire based on cronyism, and merit is never a consideration, so they are not able to attract real talent, nor do they seem to want to.

5. The tourism sector will continue to suffer, as they will focus only on China and India, leaving out higher quality Western tourism.

6. Nothing will be done to reform the outdated and onerous import duty system, and in not doing so, they will continue to discourage high end tourists, who want to spend alot of money on luxury goods while traveling, but do not do so here, as they are smart, conscious of value, and want a fair deal on a purse that costs 550,000 baht here, but 215,000 baht in Singapore, Hong Kong, Miami, NY, London, and Dubai.

6. No doubt the ex-pats will suffer too, as this group is racist, xenophobic, and full of fear of the outside world.

7. Lastly, the nation will not progress. In general Thailand is not a progressive nation. But, the army is probably the least progressive institution within the nation. So, no progress on the multitude of pressing issues the nation faces today. The environment, water quality, alternative forms of energy, recycling programs that work, etc, etc, etc. Barely anything will move forward, in a meaningful way.

To label this result as a tragedy for the nation, would be a huge understatement. The army are small minded, insular men, and know little about anything. This army is moving the nation backwards at a pace that is astonishing.

Comes as a shock, but where are the official results? Today is 9th May?!

Why ? surely this was the expected outcome. They may have a minority in the house but they have a majority on the barrack square.

This outcome is about what I expected but I am baffled by how incompetent they were in getting there.

They have the money, the media, the power and they still made clowns of themselves. Marketing and communication make wonders in the western world, money can buy all of that. So why is it that they were not able to buy their way into a "Fair" election ? It would have given them the legitimacy and peace of mind they tried to achieve through this farce.

That says everything about a shamlection! The elitists and military will not willingly give up control to the people of Thailand! ????

A bit off topic, But now that he has been truly and fairly elected (sarc,) i wonder if he will/can keep his complete blanket amnesty protection in place, now he's a proper PM obviously he will have art.44 (or whatever it is) to fire off at anything he does'nt agree with, but what with the amnesty?

If I passed wind in a crowded lift then, as people were choking , got out some air freshener and sprayed it everywhere, when the lift got to the ground floor and the doors opened would everyone in the lift think I was a great guy for saving them from choking ?

You seem to think they should.

For someone who claimed right from the start that he was just doing his civil duty in taking leadership of Thailand and had no desire to stay on as PM, it seems the only way he's going to leave the office is by being dragged out kicking and screaming.

Once he completes this latest term, I think he'll have been in office for 9 years, and I can somehow see that another "emergency" will occur near the end of his term that will make him insist that he really has to continue on indefinitely, regardless of the constitution, because it's just not possible that any other human being could replace him. Then again, he may claim that he's only been in office officially for 1 term because the first 5 years were emergency measures and don't really count. Then perhaps he might choose to completely trash the constitution and decide that it's only logical and fair to Thailand that he continue as Thailand's Prime Minister Elect for life.
