China and Thailand are part of ASEAN trade pact... could it be the parts are all from China but some "stopped" in Thailand to change the stickers to indicate made in Thailand, it happens quite often

No offense, but financially and logistically that is stupid for a major international corporation concerned about the bottom line, in an industry (low end electronics) with margins in single digits.

Bosch isnt going to piss off the big boys to smuggle toasters.

I just heard on the radio that China just busted an international hard drive counterfeit operation wherein old hard drives were "recylced" into new ones with a label, software and a margin of 60%.

  • It's a nice anecdote, but it's not what statistics show. China has significantly increased exports to USA in 2018, both before and after sanctions started to be applied. https://www.census.gov/fo

Nonsense. It is becoming less competitive in cheap goods. But that's because as its citizens' standard of living rises they're unwilling to work for the kind of wages it takes for those manufacturers

China has stopped buying US Treasuries, I'm sure they now buy Thai Condo's.

Because manufacturers frequently can't just pass along entire costs to a customer. Especially if there are other low labor cost countries such as Vietnam making the same sort of products but not encumbered by tariffs. On some products, the tariff will be payed fully by the consumer, others will be a mix between consumer and producer, and others will fall almost entirely on the producer.

Actually costs are paid by consumer, producer, or the importer.  The importer is usually an American company.  Since most of these goods are low margin products that the manufacturers can't pay the tariffs on, the cost will be split between the US businesses importing and selling the product, and the US consumers.

In other words, these tariffs are a tax on US businesses and consumers.

back in the 80's I managed to be a supplier to Bullocks departments stores, shoes department, they wanted shoes made in Italy, I went to Mexico (Queretaro) visited a leather shoe factory there, made a lot of shoes there, shipped them to the US (lower import taxes from Mexico)  with made in Italy stickers.... things like that happen on a regular basis.  NK leader is using mercedes limousines that mercedes claim's didn't sold to him..... but he has them, many different ways to peel a rabbit but I accept your opinion

But trump tells his base that China is paying the tariffs, and they fall for it.

would be nice to see copy of the check China wrote to the US....Trump is nothing more than a BS, so far only heard one (1) news channel questioning his accounting/dealings strategy

A troll post containing a juvenile representation of Trump's name has been removed.  If you do not want your post to be removed, spell people's names correctly.
