Palang Pracharath Party confident of setting up post-election govt

 

   

BANGKOK, 10 May 2019 (NNT) - The Palang Pracharath Party has expressed confidence in its ability to set up a post-election government with itself at the core of a coalition; potential partner Bhumjaithai Party however remains reserved.

 

Palang Pracharath party leader Uttama Savanayana said today he had continued to talk with leaders of other parties in a bid to form a coalition government but no conclusions have been reached as yet. He denied that the portfolios of a cabinet had been discussed in bargaining talk and said his party would focus on economic issues.

 

Meanwhile, Palang Pracharath Party’s leading members Somsak Thepsuthin and Suriya Juangroongruangkit say they have confidence in the move to act as the core of a coalition and have already assembled 254 MPs. They claim that there might be as many as 20 parties in the possible coalition but say that wouldn’t cause problems in the running of such a coalition government as they would all work together.

 

Elsewhere, Bhumjaithai party leader Anutin Charnverakul posted on Facebook a statement saying his party is listening to the people and has not as yet joined any move to form a coalition government. His latest comments appear to dampen rumors that the Palang Pracharath Party had already joined hands with the Democrat Party, Bhumjaithai Party and Chart Pattana Party in setting up a coalition and even allocating the portfolios of cabinet.

 

Prachachart party leader Wan Muhammad Nor Matha meanwhile, says that all seven MPs of his party have reaffirmed their determination to stick to the standpoint earlier adopted alongside six other parties, never to support any attempt to prolong the rule of the National Council for Peace and Order. He said all seven parties have already made a joint declaration on their shared standpoint, while the Pheu Thai Party and Palang Pracharath Party were vying with each other to assemble as many MPs as possible in a bid to set up a coalition of its own. He admitted that the Pheu Thai Party might ultimately become an opposition party in parliament, if it failed to become the core of a coalition in government.

 

Future Forward party spokesperson Pannikar Vanich said today the House of Representatives would open in the next two weeks, though nobody should jump to a conclusion as to which side of politics would finally become the government.

The only reason I can see for the election was to increase the number of junta personnel so that those at the top would have less to do (job wise).

There was  lot of effort to disguise the theft of this election in order to convince the international community that this was a fair election and Thailand has returned to democracy. That failed but they have managed to maintain their hold on power and suppress the desires of the majority of their countrymen.

Read up in detail on the political parties/Juntas who have taken power since 1932. I think you find that there is little differences in the degree of corruption.

If the NCPO had put as much effort into improving Thailand as they put into manipulating the election (but failed), the people would be much "happier" today and the country would be much further ahead. But then again, such efforts may have also failed.
