Rooster has been in Thailand almost his entire adult life. I've made visits back to my homeland in South London at least once a year for decades. Usually those visits are to see family.  There have been sad occasions like funerals down the years as well as joyous ones like graduations. Often I go back to play Scrabble, a game in which I represent my adopted homeland of Thailand.

Kenyan government observes housing estate project in Bangkok

Parents prepare for new school term

National Work Safety Day commemorates the deadliest industrial disaster in Thai history

BANGKOK, 11 MAY (NNT) - 2019The tragedy of the Kader Toy Factory fire in Nakhon Pathom province, which occurred on 10 May 1993, caused hundreds of deaths and injuries. The incident prompted all sectors to collaborate on enhancing work safety, and the Department of Labor Protection and Welfare has designated May 10 of every year National Work Safety Day. This year, the department aims to reduce work accidents by more than 10 percent.

PM claims politicians exploiting oil palm price problem to discredit government

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has accused some politicians of distorting the problem of oil palm prices to create the impression that his government is not helping oil palm farmers in Thailand’s southern provinces, said deputy government spokesman Lt-Gen Weerachon Sukondhapatipak on Friday.

PHUKET: Provincial Police Region 8 Chief Lt Gen Pongwuth Pongsri was in Phuket yesterday (May 10) to hear in person what transpired in the incident over the Chief Judge in Nakhon Sri Thammarat allegedly refusing to hand over his driver’s licence, which resulted in the police officer in question being immediately transferred to desk duties.

PHUKET: As the Thai military scales back its direct role in local administration within the province, Lt Gen Pornsak Poonsawat, Commander of the Army Region 4, yesterday announced that responsibility for several issues in Phuket overseen by the Army will be handed over to the Phuket branch of the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc) before the end of May.

Private hospitals ordered to display medicine prices

BANGKOK, 11 MAY 2019(NNT)- The Ministry of Commerce has implemented a new measure after announcing medicine and medical supplies as controlled items, requiring hospitals to display pricing of some 3,000 items via QR codes allowing the general public to make comparisons. Failure to comply will result in up to 1 year imprisonment or up to 20,000 baht fine.

Hefty fines for vans older than 10 years running passenger services
