This government obviously has alot of skeletons in the closet.

What's next, censoring google "China style" ?

Seems that way to me.

I found that youtube was blocked when I followed a link on a popular Thailand Blog. The link said that the video was shot outside nana plaza at closing time from a hidden camera. Perhaps a bit unsavory, but nothing pornographic, just people walking down the street. I found that most of the videos posted by the guy that filmed video are blocked now.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm being vague, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the name of the blog or the person who filmed that.

Can access YouTube from home using True at home (still blocked from the office tho, unless you use Bambina's method :o ). If they were serious about blocking access surely True would be one of the first ISP's they'd target.

Looks like just another case of admin incompetence.

bah, another reason why I'm happy to be leaving in May!

I'm also leaving after 8 years! I've had it with all stupid things now. :o Haven't really decided where to go, thinking of Cambodia or the Philippines.

I have TT&T MaxNet and even had problems accessing thaivisa.com this morning.

Blocking here is done at various levels. What seems to be the case is that some True nodes are blocking, looks like those which primarily serve 'high bandwidth' customers {cue hysterical laughter about including the term high bandwidth and Thai internet in one sentence} and others are not. My assumption here is that an edict has gone out from someone that there's something on YT they don't like.

I wonder if it's tied into the 'tutor king-- mad doc' case which has huge tracts of the population glued to the papers and TV right now. This is after all the main lead item on the Thai media.

Regards

Blocked on Jasmine Internet too. Drops you off at "big brother's" website.

But now it is on, then it is off, then it is back on. What is this?

What I find more or less amusing about this is:-

It is not only the absolute arrogance, ignorance and stupidity of blocking an important media source like Youtube.

It is the fact that "they" are so inept that "they" cannot even block properly.

NOT www.youtube.com BUT youtube.com kept on working the whole time.

"They" cannot even block a site without messing up on it. Incredible.

And worse yet, as another poster pointed out, www.pornotube.com is still online. What the heck? *)&&$#%$@#&%!

Stupid, stupider and utterly ridiculous.

I called TT&T Maxnet now, they had never heard about YouTube or the problems. Incompetence!

I asked for a discount now as I pay for something that isn't working, and of course they just hanged up on me. :o

It doesnt look like its down but more like its been blocked. I havent been able to get on for days. almost the same time it was blocked in Turkey. You probably could get on if you hide tyour I.P. address. Im going to try that.

Burmese diva causes You Tube banning in Thailand.

Irrawaddy Daily Mercury3/10/2007

The reasons behind the blocking in Thailand of popular website You Tube are slowly emerging.

MTV Thailand on Wednesday debuted the new music video by popular Burmese pop princess U Teub.

In her latest video the winsome Miss Teub can at times be seen wearing only a smile, rose petals and a dollop of whipped cream.

The video was reportedly seen by the daughter of a prominent IT Ministry official who complained to her father that the video presented young women in a disrespectful manner and should be banned lest it corrupt the young people of Thailand.

The IT Ministry official immediately rang his assistant to have all videos on U Teub banned.

The assistant contacted the heads of all local ISP's and demanded that access to U Teub videos be blocked.

Executives refusing to co-operate were told they would be transferred to TiTV.

PS Mods is this a news item now rather than a 'techie' one?

Yup, even after I got into youtube.com, many Thai related videos won't load. Most of the ones on the coup won't load, as well as most on nightlife here.

Block seems gone now. Wonder for how long.

Time to dust off my torpark program!

Word. :o

Everyone should have a backup like this for bypassing any censorship.

well, I dunno what you people have done, but here in East Anglia it is NOT working.

Bugger, I wanted to see th naked burmese chick.

:o

I can get in to Youtube, but I can not look at any videos! They just say: loading and nothing happens - why? Before they redirected us there was no problem. :o (I have the latest flash plug)

Same problem here. I can access YouTube but I cannot view any of the videos, not even the ones that I uploaded myself! They always get stuck at "Loading..." Could the problem be with my internet connection? I'm with Maxnet ADSL.

I'm on line a lot today since the US is going to daylight saving early this year, so if you post a link or PM me one I can check it from BKK on True.

Loads and plays fine, a while since I saw a Filipino soap, and no Thai style 'boings'. Has just completed with no problems.

Thanks for doing that. Must be my connection then. It's been like this for two days and I think it's time I call the TT&T help line. I put off calling them because my stress levels rise each time I call them with a problem.

I think they have blocked viewing! I use TOT and tried two different internetprovider (Enjoy net and Loxinfo) and same same, cant see anything! What can I do?

Can’t find anything on YouTube when searching for “U Teub”. Who’s got a link?
