Having lived here for years, the facade, otherwise known as the image, is all important. Sandbags give an impression of taking care of a problem, which in all likelyhood is is so large and corrupted, it is going to take a long time and several governments to correct. Meanwhile, tourist arrival numbers continue to increase and the happiness meter is off the scale.????

the ncpo said there is no corruption????

Ewwwww!

Meanwhile just round the corner in Pattaya Bay the discharges continue unabated.  The rainy season will soon be upon us.

Also currents of the Gulf of Thailand are going South in Pattaya area, so no way this pollution could have impacted Pattaya Bay.

Ok point taken but...

Pattaya has its own  "set of outflows"   one is right at the entrance to "Walking Street" which is North of where the photo of the Triathlon swimmers was taken. There is also one (that recently made news)

at the north end of Pattaya bay and probably others all along the bay.

...and the municipal has the nerve to call these guys “engineers” The officials are definitely pocketing the money & hiring some illegal Cambodian workers for 200 baht to place the bags of concrete there.
Typical Thai thinking- no long term planning - fix it short term and hope the problem goes away.

It could be months before anything happens with millions needing to be spent.

I thought millions had already been allocated. Where did it go?

There's something for everyone. Second worst road road safety record in the world for the cyclists, PM2.5 levels will attract the runners, and the swimmers will be flocking in to wallow among the highest number of turds per m² this side of the Ganges.
