Video: Thai kindness in a crisis: Big Biker hero saves the day

Millions of Thais followed the story of a man on a big bike - Mr Big Bike - who went out of his way to help a family in distress. 

 

Itthiphon Petchphibunpong  or Tik, 28, was riding his bike in heavy traffic when he came across a family whose daughter had passed out. 

 

She was starting to foam at the mouth and they were worried they would not be able to get her to the hospital in Phitsanuloke in time. 

 

Helmet cam footage showed Tik parked his bike and knocked on the windows of several drivers to try and make a path through the dense traffic. 

 

Realizing that this was going to be too slow he then took the girl's father to the hospital on the back of his bike as he cradled his ailing daughter. 

 

They were in time and the girl is recovering after being transferred to another hospital. 

 

More than two million Thais viewed the video on Facebook and commented on the story of the latest Thai hero.

Excellent story, he got there faster and safer than an ambo would have. One in a million Thais would have done that, all the others would have gawked at the girl in the car taking photos.

Got to pronounce it right though....

That was one hair raising ride to the hospital!!.....hopefully it saved the girls life.

Great work young man , your assistance may have very well saved the young ladies life. My KUDO'S to you. Your driving skills were essential at that point. Scary but you got the job done. You risked your own life and limb for another. ???????????? ????.

Scary ride. Amazed he didn’t get into an accident. But nice story as I can feel the agony of if my kid was in that position.

The guy done a great job. Shouting in the local language certainly helped. 

Maybe a lesson for a few TVF posters? 

Heartwarming to know there are good people out there still. Sometimes it's hard to remember in these times.
