Visa Run "method" Cannot Be Used Anymore - Is This True?

Featured Replies

I just heard that the visa run "method" CANNOT be used anymore as too many foreigners are using this method to extend their stay. IS THIS TRUE???? I hope not! Does anyone have an update on the Thai visa laws?

If you have not used visa exempt entry you can do so. The law is that you can not do this for more than 90 days in any six month period.

A load of rubbish .

The rule is , you can only stay for a total of 90 days in a period of 180 days using this method.

Once your 90 days are up you have to leave or get a Visa.

Put simplistically you can arrive and get a VOA (Visa On Arrival) which allows you up to thirty days. At the end of that 30 days you can leave via one of the border points (e.g. Aranyaphrathet) and come back and get another VOA for up to 30 days. At the end of that 30 you can repeat and get another VOA for 30 days. Now you've stayed in Thailand for 90 days and next time you must leave the kingdom for 90 days before you can get another VOA or you can go to another country and apply for a tourist or other non-imm visa.

Sorry Phil. Nit picking I know but it is not a Visa on arival, it is a Visa exempt entry stamp.

2 different things.

Thanks LB :o . No matter how long you've been in LOS or how many times you've visited you never quite have everything worked out in detail. That's where this forum steps in as there's always somebody with the knowledge and experience to set you straight.
