Spaniel
In mid March I renewed my 1 year extension using the B800,000 method. My new extension is until 11 April 2020. Am I correct in thinking that I can withdraw B400,000 on 12 July 2020 without problem? I will then top off the with another B400,000 in January 2020 in preparation for applying for a new extension. ubonjoe
You can withdraw 400k baht 3 months from the date you applied for the extension which would be this month if you applied in March.

Some offices want the money to be left there for the under consideration 1 month.

Chongalulu
The supposed actual rules are clear but the most important one is the "make it up as you go along" one used by most IOs...
Caine
Its like lending someone money who repays you only to borrow it again sometime later. It’s never yours to spend in reality they’ve got you by the short and curlies until you depart this 6th world country or you turn your toes up. Mikeasq60
I'm thinking Thailand is going to have to come up with a plan that is appealing to European and Americans or risk loosing people to countries that are accomdating to those westerners who want to settle in Asia and contribute. Or maybe Thailand would like only Chinese to immigrate wouldn't that be lovely Thailand Edited June 2, 2019 by Mikeasq60

What is "loosing" people? I doubt there's much risk of large numbers of people running loose. it's been baht 800,000 in the bank or income of baht 65,000 for a long time. It's only because some embassies are unwilling/unable to verify what you claim as monthly income that immigrations has had to resort to a more reliable method of proof ... actual foreign sourced monthly deposits in a Thai bank. I doubt many Americans or Europeans with plans to retire in Thailand are going to shutter at the prospect of spending a little more than $2000 a month on themselves. Anyone starting retirement with less than that is going to be in dire straits in a few years when inflation works its compounding magic. "who want to settle in Asia and contribute." Contribute what ? The money spent for food, drink, accommodations and paid companionship for themselves? If you want to contribute so badly, bring in baht 65,000 or more a month and spend it... and a little bit will trickle down to benefit the Thai economy, but if you read any of the surveys conducted, I don't recall anyone claiming the reason he wanted to come here was he wanted to contribute to Thailand much less all of Asia. If you saw foreigners in your country, would you rush up to thank them for contributing? Has your government devised schemes to attract more borderline economic refugees. You can't seriously believe packing Thailand with only fair skinned skint people will lead to nirvana. As to a potential influx of immigrant Chinese, I suggest you learn a little Thai history as well as acquire some information on the ethnic Chinese component of the population and current trends or lack thereof. It's amusing how many people seem to think history began only when they appeared on the scene and that if they pick up and leave Thailand it will precipitate a cataclysmic catastrophe. " Interesting comment. My experience today was that CM IO will not accept a US bank statement, showing the source of deposits, the disposition of those deposits to a serial-numbered ATM here in Thailand. So much for providing proof. Electronic records that are acceptable in law courts in the USA are not accepted here. We have to make adjustments.
