Army instructor praised for grenade sacrifice

Sergeant Major First Class Somchai Thanabat, 32, has been praised as a hero after he died trying to save a trainee who failed to throw a live grenade at the Thanarat military camp in Prachuap Khiri Khan's Pran Buri district on Tuesday morning.

Labour agents arrested after 15 starving, exhausted migrants rescued from forest

POLICE HAVE rounded up 15 undocumented migrant workers, left nearly starved and camping in a forest in Songkhla province while waiting for transport to Malaysia and arrested three labour agents, one from Myanmar and two Thais.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - An upstart Thai opposition politician vying to become prime minister called for change on Wednesday, as both houses of parliament convened for the first time since a 2014 coup to vote for either him or the chief of the ruling junta to be leader.
