webfact Posted June 13, 2019 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Wissanu expects new cabinet to start work after 34th ASEAN Summit (Photo) Thai cabinet in front of Government House, January 2017 The new cabinet is expected to start functioning after the 34th ASEAN Summit, scheduled to take place in Bangkok from June 21st to 23rd, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said today (Thursday). The cabinet list has not yet been sent to the palace for endorsement by His Majesty the King, he said, adding that, if the list can be checked by the cabinet secretary-general Mr. Thirapong Wongsivavilas by next Tuesday, it could be submitted to the palace before the summit. Nevertheless, Wissanu said he didn’t think the Prime Minister and his cabinet would have the time to take an oath, as constitutionally required, until after the summit. (my italics) Sigh. Prayut still treats the constitution as only an inconvenience. The "Good People" needn't be concerned. But he doesn't hesitate using it against perceived political opposition.
