Report Israeli Tourist Sparks Outrage Over Shoe Rule Dispute in Thailand
Indeed. These are public places, not private spaces - there is a big difference. I don't like removing my shoes when entering anywhere which is a public place and never do. Why? Because my $200 shoes have laces, are hard to replace when stolen as I need to order them from the US and I also wear socks all the time - with zero exceptions. So I am expected to either remove the socks as well or subject them to the 'filthy' floor inside the store - and yes, despite the no shoe rule the floors are absolutely filthy even though you can't see it. I know this because the time I did remove my shoes all the dirt collected on the socks I wear. So I've been in dozens of normal and high end restaurants over the last decade or two while in Thailand and nobody is ever requested to remove their shoes, all the staff are wearing shoes as well. -

Correctional Officer Admits Guilt in Brutal Beating Death of Inmate Robert Brooks
I dare say they will. Being an ex prison guard in jail for killing an inmate is not going to be an easy sentence. If they do "get it", they will have no sympathy from me. It was a terrible incident, but let's hope they don't start putting up statues and lionizing Brooks like they did with George Floyd. Brooks himself was a violent offender in jail for stabbing the mother of his child. That's not to say he deserved it BTW, before anyone starts with the strawman attacks. -

Your original post claimed nuclear reactors onboard aircraft carriers made electricity to power the propellers. Pro tip: When you're in a hole, getting out of it is easier if you stop digging. As China leads the world in nuclear fusion research and high speed trains, and seems to have attained parity or better in AI, I have no problem accepting they are smart people. -
