Dear Thai Visa, I'm a mature American going to Vientiane on July 8th to apply for my Ed visa.  I have the correct application paperwork provided by a reputable school from Ministry of education here in Chiang Mai.  My American wife just arrived with a 30 day.  The school also offers a service to provide necessary dependent spouse papers to bring to the Thai consulate in Vientiane for her for an 8000 baht service fee. Perhaps a simpler route would be better.  She is going back to the states in only 3 months to visit family. Perhaps it would be easier to apply for a 2 month tourist visa for her and then get her a one month extension instead.  What do you think?  Thank you in advance! - Guy :-)

It depend upon how long she would be staying here. Eventually she could have problems using tourist visa or obtaining them a nearby consulates.

I suspect the 8000 baht includes helping with her extensions of stay for being a member of your family at immigration after the 90 day entry from the non-o visa she will get ends.

If you attending a informal school (language and etc) she will be applying for a extension every 90 days when you do your application for one.
