Jonathan Fairfield
Online lottery to be decided in July BANGKOK, (NNT) - The Government Lottery Office (GLO) board will make a decision whether or not lottery tickets will be sold online within a month. As for the problem of lottery tickets being sold for more than their 80-baht retail price, the GLO will print 10 million more tickets to meet demand and stop price gouging. The GLO Director-General, Pol. Col. Boonsong Jansisri, said the GLO board has resolved to increase the number of lottery tickets from 90 million to 100 million per round. This will be applied to sets of two tickets at 160 baht each, as more retailers are more inclined to sell sets of two tickets. The measure, scheduled to take effect next month, will help officers inspect government lottery ticket sales better. Pol. Col. Boonsong said people can use the GLO Lottery mobile application to identify their lottery vendors and their locations. They can use the app to send complaints about overpriced tickets to the GLO. The sellers’ ticket quotas will be revoked if found guilty. The GLO board meeting has agreed to set up a special team to consider all lottery-related proposals, such as the online lottery scheme. The team will submit their recommendations to the GLO board within a month. If the board endorses the new lottery scheme, a public hearing will be held. The issue will then be proposed to the cabinet for consideration before the end of fiscal 2019. After such consideration, the GLO will have a clearer picture of the best new lottery scheme. -- © Copyright nnt 2019-06-26 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info
Chang_paarp
What co-incidence that is the same time frame Uncle Too just declared for the formation of the newly elected government, when the Junta officially hand over the reigns.
evadgib
Will online participation in home lotteries be allowed too?
holy cow cm
Oh funny that the lottery is not a problem and no connection to like gambling, but OMG in CM the stuffed animals in a toy machine are going to be banned and the owners may be fined. Not sure about in BKK but here it was currently going to be treated as illegal to pop in 10baht and try to snag an animal. Let's just put the little kiddies in jail too! PETERTHEEATER
Printing (and selling) more tickets increases income but no mention of an increase in prize monies.
madmitch
So printing more tickets is a means of stopping vendors inflating prices? Nope. I've thought about this but can't quite work out how. Thai lateral thinking at its best.

I am guessing using the app to send complaints you must fill in name, address, phone number and ID. number.
