Naew Na published five pictures of Thais who had been fined yesterday for not reporting foreigners at their properties within 24 hours of their arrival.

The media said that the fines were issued under orders from new immigration chief "Big Oud" also known as Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang.

The miscreants were named as the following:

1. Wanphen Hunlamphu fined 3,200 baht for two cases

2. Nawakarn Loithian fined 1,600 for one case

3. Pornsurirat Jerng fined 12,800 for eight cases.

4. Mr Aksana Aksornsarasit fined 3,200 for two cases

and

5. Khannaphat Rinjaturat fined 3,200 baht for two cases.

Naew Na said the fines were in line with Article 38.

Lt-Gen Sompong - still officially the acting chief of the Thai Immigration Bureau - took over from Big Joke Lt-Gen Surachate Hakparn who was abruptly transferred to clerical duties at the PM's office in April.

Embarrassing and they don't know it.

So I guess all the foreigners who were forced to pay the TM30 fines on behalf of their landlords will now be getting refunds?

#6 who cares ????

Photo OP, missed the finger pointing, guess that's 'reserved' for farang.

While they waisted time on this, unknown number of crimes happen same time, sale of YaBa openly everywhere,  unknown number of traffic accidents happen because all drivers know the roads are free speed for all, no cops to be seen. And traffic lights huh ...

This time it wasn't farang who had to pay, (running out of farang)?

Next photo OP, at Nana 2 am ...

Next photo OP at nakhon somewhere where 85 year old farang caught, not doing his latest 90 day report.

Priorities .....

The ex-pats who know that their landlord/landlady will soon get fed up with having to lose a day every time that their tenant stays somewhere else overnight.

These same ex-pats know that there is a good chance that their landlord/landlady will not renew their rental agreement next year.

Wonder how many of these Thais who were fined voted for the junta party?

Once done the first time it only takes a few minutes at the local police station.

It is just farcical. A government agency releasing photos like that is beyond belief.

I am pretty sure #3 could have killed someone on the road and be fined less. Madness.

Who has time to go to immigration everytime a foreigner checks into their hotel? Do the big hotels do this?

Hotels can do this online (suppose).

Supposed to be able to take into account the hotels have hire extra staff just doing that all day and night

TOTALLY PATHETIC and its inundating immigration with paperwork, many owners /agents etc  complaining and of course they are MILES behind with sending back the TM30  slip. Wife has some Japanese customers in and out of Thailand every week sometimes twice ...its PATHETIC NEEDLESS CRAP.

That is very dependent on whether your landlord/landlady is willing to partake in these games.

CORRECT many saying no farangs now at all.

So I go to a friends house, have to much to drink, and spend the night there. Does he have to run down to immigration office to tell them?

Try travelling in and out twice a  week due to business and see how DUMB it is.

You (as in anyone not "you" in particular) can do it yourself as "possessor"; just need certain details from the landlord. If they are unwilling to provide details it begs the question ... why?

The TM30 is the expats thing when he comes from abroad. Has nothing to do with the landlord

They do it by computer. Every hotel and guesthouse. It´s a 2 minutes thing. Btw., hotels all over the world do it.

Probably worried about taxes.

Besides, why would they need an excuse, yes there are good landlords/landladies out there but there are enough of them that are bloody awkward when you need something doing.

Wrong, it is all about the landlord.

Stephen Fry? Agreed, a pointless rule. If a criminal or terrorist wants to get into Thailand he will find a way. Boat , hot air balloon or parachute. Meanwhile, in the south of Thailand...
