Motorcycle repair shop owner killed when pickup truck crashes into shop

By The Nation

The owner of a motorcycle repair shop was killed on Saturday when a pickup truck lost control and crashed into his shop in Kalasin’s Muang district while he was repairing a motorbike.

Police said Nipon Muenpa, 50, died after being taken to Kalasin Hospital.

The pickup truck driver, Ampai Singto, 29, said she lost control of her vehicle because she had to swerve to avoid a motorcycle that cut in front of her.

The shop was badly damaged.

Another incapable Thai pick-up driver killing an innocent party.  Of course the fact she could not control her vehicle, was not her fault naturally, she claims it was a result of another motor cyclist cutting in front of her !!  RIP to the poor shop owner who lost his life.

We don't know whether she is telling porkies or not but to be fair to her, bike riders do tend to pull off all sorts of maneuvers without looking behind first.

Normally they just get cleaned up in the process, as the drivers they cut up don't have the foresight or reactions to avoid them.

At least this lady reacted (allegedly) in time, just unfortunately couldn't keep it on the road and splatted an innocent !!

Unfortunate also that to wreck a shop as stated then the truck must really have been moving some. As I said another Thai who can not control her vehicle, but would rather blame others.

I wonder what time her last text message was. No doubt, the police checked her phone log.

when a pickup truck lost control and crashed

Dumb reporting, a truck doesn't lose control! Its the idiot behind the wheel.

"The pickup truck driver, Ampai Singto, 29, said she lost control of her vehicle because she had to swerve to avoid a motorcycle that cut in front of her !!! Well they always have a perfect excuse to avoid responsibility. she was probably busy with her mobile phone and driving to fast !

The reporting isn't very clear, it just says the shop was badly damaged.

Why is everyone so quick to judge the woman a bad driver ? The details are very scant...

For all we know, she could have swerved to miss an idiot on a bike. She could also have been driving within the speed limits..

She might have hit the shop at 20km/h for all we know and a badly built wall collapsed onto the owner, killing him and damaging the shop !!

She could also have been speeding, whilst texting and flicking her bean.... Who knows, apart from her, unless conclusive CCTV proves otherwise ???

Anyone that lives and works close to a road runs the risk of being wiped out by a out of control pickup in their own home and or business ????RIP

Why are you so quick to attempt to indicate that a person driving a pick up in Thailand , who killed an innocent shop owner, was not to blame given the facts are that a)  Based on police reports more than 40% drivers do not hold a legal driving license,    b) Thailand has almost the worst road toll for deaths in the world  c) every second of every day just opening ones eyes you can see dangerous, irresponsible and selfish driving on Thai roads.   Amassing the lengths some peopl will go in an attempt to prove black is white

Saw the report on the news.  She flew through the shop and stopped well past it. Too much speed.

Just another typical day in Thailand.  Couldn't care less.  Go near a Thai road = expect to die soon...

Sorry, folks. Even knowing that females are usually not the best drivers around the world, it could be true that she'd lost control after trying to avoid an accident with a bike.

That's maybe why it's called accident?

As I said in my first post.  It was pretty obvious to most sensible people when reading the original report and the resultant damage, but still there are people even on TVF who will make excuses for causing death by reckless driving come what may.

Fair enough then but the OP didn't have those details..

Because they were no facts in the OP indicating that it was her fault...

Now where is that ignore button ?

Bus, truck, car, songtaew, motorbike, pickup, take your pick.

Better to hit the bike than crash into a building...this way you have evidence...

the other way is heresy...is she really really going to say I was going too fast and lost control?

trying to save face....

Very common here. Ignoring the one who is at fault and hit others.

I learned that cars have no “break” here, accelerate pedal only. ????

And doesn't everyone everywhere claim the same? Certainly happens in Australia..

she neither has the skills, reflexes or intelligents to take some sort of action had a motor bike had cut in front of her.
